The Role

As an Associate within Controls Management, you will part of the 'Borrow' Controls Team, globally supporting the product and operations teams in the creation of consumer-centric digital credit products (including both secured and unsecured credit). You will contribute to work with the business to effectively manage operational risks and improve customer outcomes, maintaining an effective control environment through:

  • Effective governance,
  • Control design,
  • Risk and controls self-assessment,
  • Management of issues, incidents, risk events and
  • The implementation of firmwide control programs.

Responsibilities

  • Culture: Contributing to a proactive risk and control culture within our digitally-driven business that leverages distributed accountability among peers to drive continuous improvement.
  • New Business: Effectively partnering with the Credit Product, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure that robust controls are embedded within the design and development of new products, features and processes, and can enable effective monitoring of effectiveness (e.g. Control KPI).
  • Operational Readiness: Partnering with technology and testing teams to support frameworks for operational 'go live readiness' which will include the assessment of BAU processes, monitoring and reporting on progress, the development of automated dashboards and threshold triggers, and the review of digital testing strategies.
  • Risk Scanning: Active risk identification, assessment and sizing utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies for lending businesses.
  • Risk and Controls Self-Assessment: Performing risk and control self-assessments across all lending products and digital journeys and also for those journeys and processes impacted by the lending businesses.
  • Issue and Event Management: Manage operational risk events (including losses, potential losses or production incidents) and operational risk issues.

Skills/ Qualifications

  • Financial services experience within retail banking.
  • Expert in Operational Risk Management within Financial Services industry, with a strong understanding of Operational Risk Management Regulatory Frameworks and their application.
  • Strong understanding of UK Consumer Credit regulatory frameworks across secured and unsecured credit.
  • Experience working and efficiently delivering in an information technology area / environment is a plus (e.g. IT Auditing, Programming Controls, Data Management and Governance etc).
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills; including written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information in differing degrees of details and form depending on audience.
  • Ability to work within a digital first environment, including comfortable with new technologies and frameworks, agile methodologies, reviewing digital journeys and technology architecture.
  • Flexibility and ability to partner with other team members across global time zones.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Proficiency in Alsatian Suite (Jira and Confluence) would be beneficial.
