As a Compliance Export Controls and Sanctions Associate within the GSC Advisory team, you will be tasked with reviewing export controls transactions globally, providing advice and guidance on global export controls and sanctions laws. You will support and drive continuous improvement to enhance trade compliance within JPMC, create globally consistent processes, systems, controls, and standards for trade compliance. Your responsibilities may also include providing training, responding to escalations, filing, maintaining license applications, and updating internal guidance as required.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of global export controls laws and sanctions laws to provide advice and to support queries raised by business partners and their customers
  • Provide training and guidance when necessary, respond to export controls related escalations, and maintain and update guidance as necessary.
  • Keep informed of any changes to laws and regulatory guidance and ensure open verbal dialogue with colleagues globally.
  • Interact with regulators, as needed
  • Demonstrate a quality focused work ethic and strong controls mind-set, understand regulatory requirements and adhere to appropriate controls.
  • Utilize strong organizational skills that enable effective work prioritization of multiple asks and ensure timely escalation of key risks/issues to management.
  • Communicate effective analysis and impacts at all levels.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of ever-changing export controls landscape through knowledge and research.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years relevant experience working with or in Trade and Export Controls
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrate the ability to partner with stakeholders on projects
  • Detail-oriented; possess a high-level of attention to detail and quality for their work product
  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment;
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to senior management

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Sanctions experience with OFAC regulations in addition to export controls is a plus
