The Client Tax Operations utility in India consists of 150+ staff and is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of withholding, reporting, reclaim filing and relief at source function in over 100 markets globally. The Client Tax Senior Associate will be responsible for execution of the key business objectives, processes and managing business risks for key client/partner relationships across the Corporate & Investment Bank. Candidate will be responsible for reviewing reclaim forms and liaising with the sub-custodians to ensure final submission to Tax Authorities along with managing a team of high performing team of 6-10 members. This is a dynamic function requiring consistent compliance and controls, enhanced response to regulatory and market changes and operational excellence in our business processes and technology.

Job responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing the Tax Reclaims filed on behalf of the clients, within the stipulated window.
  • Leadership of an Operations team in Mumbai supporting the Corporate & Investment Bank "CIB"
  • Partnering with the Tax Operations team globally to execute tax services for CIB clients.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for the local team members.
  • Thorough knowledge of end-to-end process flow, SOPs, and validation points. Have a good industry knowledge of International Tax reclaims processing.
  • Influence technology on system enhancements and ability to articulate stakeholders on various change management initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing tools to manage and improve quality and accuracy. Identify opportunities for process efficiency & implement in a controlled manner.
  • Responsible for decision making about the handling of various types of scenarios critical for the business and for accuracy and timely completion.
  • Liaise with cross line of business partners to achieve business result driven improvements/ system enhancements with emphasis on strategic end state and controls.
  • Responsible for undertaking the day-to-day operations within the team, acting as the point of contact for the aligned country or line of business, ensuing tax compliance obligations are met, control procedures are adhered to and internal stakeholders are regularly communicated with.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills.

  • Graduate or Post-Graduate with 7+ years' experience in operations.
  • Familiarity with a Taxation and Tax Operations for various Markets.
  • Minimum experience of 4-6 years as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent degree (Big 4 experience added advantage)
  • Must be able to maintain and operate in an environment of high standards of risk and control.
  • Experience of client service and relationship management communicating complex issues with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills to review evolving market practices, assess oversight metrics, results identify trends and resolve complex issues.
  • Analytical with ability to quickly assess situations and resolve complex issues.
  • Skilled in MS office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project
  • Relevant Tax market knowledge or industry experience
  • Knowledge of financial markets and banking industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau and UI path.
