As an AWS Software Engineer III, Java at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, specifically within Consumer and Community Banking Risk team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

  • Work closely with a team of passionate data engineers and architects to deliver cloud-native data capabilities
  • Design strategically while building applications that solve for real-world use cases. You will create logical designs, describe the deployment of the designs on a physical platform then build applications based on articulated designs, recognizing alternatives and proposing choices throughout the process.
  • Create engineering designs, best practices, guidelines and procedures, as well as repeatable and scalable frameworks to successfully manage large amounts of data, ensuring compliance with data classification requirements while maintaining data integrity and accessibility.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Hands-on experience using Infrastructure as code software tools, specifically Terraform
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Strong design skills for individual applications (solution architecture) and across applications (enterprise architecture)
  • Hands-on experience in open-source frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Apache Ignite and Apache NiFi etc
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing data solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using offerings such as: S3, Athena, Glue, EMR, Lambda, RDS, EC2, Elasticache, Redshift
  • Hands-on experience working in big data environment, working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Experience with Agile methodologies\Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Hands on experience in object-oriented programming with expertise in languages such Java and/or Scala
  • Experience in building apps for real-time streaming using Apache Spark Streaming, Apache Kafka and/or Amazon Kinesis
  • Experience in re-engineering and migrating on-premises data solutions to and for the cloud
  • Experience in building on emerging cloud serverless managed services, to minimize/eliminate physical/virtual server footprint
