Joining our team in India, you will be part of the Corporate Tax team (reporting to the regional Corporate Tax management team) to support Asia regional tax and location heads on both controls and also business management involving furthering the tax control agenda and strategic planning, location governance, and facilitation of functional plans.

Job summary:

As a Controls and Business Management professional in our Corporate Tax team, you will be a key player in supporting regional / global tax management, focusing on various aspects of tax governance, tax processes and ownership, communication, strategy, and overall business management supporting the APAC Head of Tax and their management team. This role offers the opportunity to partner with teammates across geographies on projects or initiatives with regional or global impact.

Your Controls and Business Management expertise will be instrumental in helping to manage and drive key initiatives. You will collaborate with a team of diverse and dynamic tax experts within our global network. Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in the further development, implementation and monitoring of Corporate Tax's tax control policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with our centralized controls and risk reporting teams to ensure Corporate Tax is adhering to the bank's internal policies.
  • Keep track of ongoing tax controversy issues in the region and identify common themes to help tax stakeholders manage tax risks proactively.
  • Provide guidance to other members of the regional Corporate Tax team on the bank's internal policies and risk escalation processes.
  • Provide risk and control oversight as the go-to person in first line of defense; support audit, regulatory and compliance deliverables.
  • Manage Standard Operating Procedures; work closely with control partners to ensure Corporate Tax is compiled to both regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Execute Corporate Tax strategic initiatives and priorities set by Asia regional tax and location heads as well as senior leadership, including delivery of key projects from end-to-end process.
  • Project manage existing and new initiatives and deliver key work streams and tasks in a timely manner.
  • Participate in collaborative initiatives with Global Corporate Tax team and key functional partners to support firm-wide and team specific initiatives as well as other ad hoc projects impacting Corporate Tax.
  • Provide a high level of responsiveness to ad-hoc requests related to project management, presentation development, and business analysis. Organize complex information in a strategic and compelling way, demonstrating strong design acumen and expertise in Excel and PowerPoint techniques.
  • Coordinate team activities and prepare materials for strategy working sessions, trainings and other initiatives.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, business management or strategy roles in the financial services industry
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of commercial acumen
  • Strong execution experience with a demonstrated ability to meet and enforce deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving and project management skills; numerical fluency to analyze data and present conclusions concisely
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to not only derive the answers, but to frame the answers in the proper context for executive data based decision making
  • Fiduciary, risk and control mindset to uphold organizational values and principles
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills, effective relationship building skills with the ability to listen well and influence others, attention to detail and positive / proactive attitude
  • Able to look forward to visualize future demands, opportunities and challenges. Able to understand complex context and issues quickly with a curious mindset to dig for the solutions
  • Able to quickly shift gears and work on projects of varying nature with individuals across different regions, levels and functions
  • Intermediate to advanced level ability expected in all MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Pivot Tables)
