US Funds Platform Management is responsible for business management and oversight for J.P. Morgan pooled vehicles including U.S. mutual funds and ETFs, collective investment funds, investment partnerships and Canadian unit trusts and ETFs (collectively referred to as \"Funds\"). US Funds Platform Management is comprised of the following functional areas: Funds Treasury, Governance and Board Management, Taxation, Product Implementation/Project Management, Compliance, and Vendor Management.
As a US Funds Platform Tax Manager on the US Funds Platform Management Tax team you will have responsibility for all tax aspects for certain U.S. and Canada mutual funds, ETFs and unit trusts. In addition, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and documentation of taxation of new financial instruments and products and completion of strategic initiatives. As a member of the team you will be expected to provide subject matter expertise and identify tax issues and oversight solutions.

Job Responsibilities
- Act as liason and subject matter expert, representing the tax team for product related initiatives and working with other functional areas.
- Supervise and review third party service providers and their work product to ensure deliverables are complete, accurate and provided on time.
- Review tax provisions and tax returns prepared by third party services providers.
- Identify tax issues of certain investments and strategies, perform tax research and develop/ implement practical solutions.
- Identify foreign withholding issues and reclaims processing working with custodian.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 5 or more years of mutual fund/ ETF tax experience
- Proficient knowledge of rules and regulations of income and excise taxation of regulated investment companies and shareholders
- Proficient knowledge of IRS qualification tests including the determination of issuer and their valuation for quarterly asset tests and qualifying income for the annual gross income tests
- Proficient knowledge of rules and regulations of partnership tax accounting, including allocations, PTP status and UBTI/ECI
- Proficient knowledge of rules and regulations of financial products and investment strategies: REITs, partnerships, PFICs, straddles, constructive sales, QCCOs, Section 1256 contracts, Section 988 and etc.
- Experience in supervising and monitoring, as well as, building relationships with teams of tax professionals, including third party providers.
- Proficient tax research skills including the review of offering and reorganization documents, understanding economics of issues and use of tax research tools.
- Proficient knowledge of shareholder information including the ICI spreadsheets and supplemental shareholder information
- Knowledge of foreign withholding taxes and facilitate foreign withholding tax processing.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Knowledge of Canada taxation funds is a plus - mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
- Accounting undergraduate degree with Certified Public Accountant, Master of Tax or Enrolled Agent preferred.
