As an Associate on the Product & Platform team within J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management Hedge Fund & Alternative Credit Solutions, you will play a key role in supporting technological innovation and data management within the business. Your focus will be on enhancing efficiencies across teams and promoting design principles. You will assist in developing tools to boost efficiency, particularly within the Investment Research, Risk, and Client teams. By collaborating with AM Technology teams, you will help transition tools to enterprise architecture and encourage design principles among Python developers to foster reuse and reduce transition costs. Your responsibilities will include participating in technology initiatives, reengineering legacy processes, implementing new technologies, and identifying automation opportunities. Working closely with senior members, you will help identify projects to improve the team's quantitative capabilities and assist in overseeing the Data Management team's tasks. Additionally, you will support ad-hoc reporting requests and contribute to ongoing reporting and analytical needs. You will also participate in oversight activities, supporting senior members of the Liquid Alternatives Oversight team in daily portfolio oversight and transformation initiatives. A genuine interest in learning about the hedge fund solutions business and understanding the dynamics of financial markets is essential, as this role is integral to business operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Product & Platform team in promoting technological innovation and data management, with a focus on enhancing efficiencies across teams.
  • Assist in developing tools to improve efficiencies within the Investment Research, Risk, and Client teams.
  • Collaborate with AM Technology teams to facilitate the transition of tools to enterprise architecture.
  • Encourage the adoption of design principles among Python developers to promote reuse and reduce transition costs.
  • Participate in technology initiatives, including reengineering legacy processes, implementing new technologies, and identifying automation opportunities.
  • Work with senior team members to identify projects that enhance the team's quantitative capabilities.
  • Stay informed about investment and strategy modeling needs that may require system support.
  • Assist in overseeing the Data Management team's tasks, supporting the development of tools to ensure data completeness.
  • Monitor and assist with ad-hoc reporting requests from clients, analysts, portfolio managers, and the risk team.
  • Support ongoing reporting and analytical needs, focusing on eliminating duplication, enhancing efficiency, and achieving full automation.
  • Participate in oversight activities, supporting senior members of the Liquid Alternatives Oversight team in daily portfolio oversight and transformation initiatives.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
  • 2-4 years of experience in financial services, ideally working with hedge funds or private credit.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of software engineering concepts and hands-on experience with scripting languages and data analysis tools, including Python and Tableau.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team dynamic.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and solve business problems.
  • Capability to assess current processes and the overall control environment, identify areas for improvement, and leverage technology to implement practical solutions.
  • A genuine interest in learning about the hedge fund solutions business and the dynamics of financial markets, including stocks, bonds, commodities, and derivatives.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • General familiarity with hedge fund strategies, risk management, and portfolio construction concepts is a plus.
