Analyst - Global Fund Services OTC Derivatives Valuations

The OTC (Over The Counter) Derivatives Valuation Control Group (VCG) is organized into a global team of valuation and quantitative analysts based in the UK, Dallas, Sydney, and Mumbai. The team provides OTC derivatives valuations to institutional clients, asset managers, hedge funds, and insurance companies who have outsourced part or all of their middle and back office operations to J.P. Morgan. The VCG team provides the primary support and expertise for complex asset valuations and queries from both internal and external clients. The team functions within the business as Subject Matter Experts for OTC derivatives valuation and is involved with product development/testing, client on-boarding, and automation projects.

As an OTC analyst within the Global Funds servicing team, you will have a unique opportunity to work in a cross-asset environment with exposure to all types of OTC derivatives. This role offers a dynamic and challenging environment where you can develop your skills and knowledge in OTC derivatives. You will provide independent valuation services to our clients across a wide array of OTC derivative products, produce and analyze valuations on a daily basis, and establish and develop strong relationships with both internal and external clients. You will also have the opportunity to resolve ad-hoc issues and expand your role as your skills develop.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide independent valuation services to internal and external clients across a wide array of OTC derivative products including rates, credit, equity, FX, inflation, commodity, and volatility / variance swaps
  • Produce and analyze valuations on OTC derivatives within client portfolios on a daily basis. This will also involve comparing and analyzing OTC valuations across multiple sources. The candidate should be able to quantify and clearly articulate any valuation movements through the Greeks
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Resolve ad-hoc issues, including queries related to third party valuations, procedures, and processes
  • Add functions as required and as the role and analyst's skills develop

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • A proactive, pragmatic approach to problem solving; good mathematical background; ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment; self-motivating; exhibit a natural curiosity towards learning about the financial markets
  • Experience in Bloomberg, Reuters, other trading or market data platforms
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, CFA, FRM, CQF) or progression towards the degree

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • OTC Derivatives valuation knowledge across multiple asset classes is preferred
  • One plus years of prior middle office or operations experience with a background in derivatives or valuations preferable
