  • Cardiovascular Communications & Public Affairs: J&J MedTech's global cardiovascular portfolio includes world-leading electrophysiology, heart recovery, circulatory restoration, and neurovascular businesses that touch the lives of millions of patients each year. This role is responsible for communications talent development and performance in reaching all audiences for these businesses, including customers and HCPs, employees, investors, policy makers, media, and suppliers. Key business partners for the role include the Company Group Chair of J&J MedTech's Electrophysiology, Neurovascular & Aesthetics & Reconstruction portfolio and the Group President of Heart Recovery & Circulatory Restoration.
  • MedTech Patient Advocacy & Storytelling: This role is also responsible for defining J&J MedTech's patient advocacy priorities and overseeing initiatives that build relationships with our patients and educate them to seek optimal care. The role will build programs and channels aimed at communicating the benefits of J&J MedTech solutions through patient storytelling in internal and external settings. The role will also bring patient insights into the company and advance J&J's patient-first Credo culture through strategic communications.

Reporting to the Global Head of MedTech Communications & Public Affairs, the role sits on the MT CPA leadership team, is accountable to various business leadership teams, and is a member of the J&J Global Corporate Affairs Communications Board.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing collaborative, high-performing communications teams
  • Setting a vision for the team's focus and desired impact
  • Delivering results in a matrixed environment across multiple regions and complex stakeholder interdependencies
  • Advocating for patients and telling stories with a genuine passion for making a difference in patients' lives
  • Creating business value through stakeholder activation, including employees, media, investors, customers, governments, communities, etc.
  • Building digital-first, data-backed communications channels and campaigns
  • Managing through business transformation and a rapid pace of change with a high level of ambiguity
  • Translating high-level, complex strategies into clear and concise communications that drive action
  • Collaborating closely with senior leaders in developing and executing strategic communication
  • Delivering world-class communications across disciplines, including editorial and change management, external brand positioning, media relations, public affairs, investor communications, issues management community relations, and patient advocacy


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; MBA or Graduate Studies a plus
  • 15+ years of experience in a strategic communications discipline is required
  • 10+ years of people management experience is required
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • A career focused on corporate communications, media relations, patient advocacy, internal/external engagement, corporate reputation enhancement and protection, issues mitigation and management
  • Experience representing Communications on a cross-functional business leadership team in a global company
  • Experience in developing integrated organizational communication strategies
  • Experience successfully interacting with colleagues at all levels at the business, regional, global and corporate levels
  • Proven track record in creating trusted partnerships with senior leaders
  • Strong experience in all aspects of managing complex, multi-regional, high risk, high profile communications issues
  • Success in building, managing and engaging high-performing teams
  • MedTech and cardiovascular industry experience a plus
  • The role will require 10% domestic and international travel

Salary

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

The base pay range for this position is $188,000 - $345,000 USD

Bonus

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 160 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
