The Data Science and Real World Evidence Digital Health Analytics & Insights team within Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicines develops innovative insights and solutions, with an emphasis on building data resources and providing portfolio-growing insights that enable the next generation of therapies to patients in need across multiple disease areas. We are looking for outstanding, executive Real World Evidence Leader whose responsibilities include:
• Leading and mentoring a large multidisciplinary team of Data Science Real World Evidence Analytics and Insights Directors and Scientists. This role will develop and execute strategy with a focus on key priorities. This will entail, building a roadmap to deliver the projects from data feasibility, study design and analysis, to final presentation to senior cross-functional leaders.
• Partner with the Data Science Therapeutic Area leaders to identify, conceptualize, lead, shape and deliver Real World Evidence solutions to Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine's R&D portfolio. This will require a wide range of methodologies and advanced analytics to deliver a wide range of large strategic and complex projects in a timely manner.
• Partner with peers in the evidence generation ecosystem within R&D and the broader enterprise, comprised of but not limited to Global Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Quantitative Sciences, Pharmacometrics, Global Commercial RWE and more.
• Be a hands-on technical leader, instituting appropriate governance, best practices, and developing common technical tools. Craft a data-driven culture, of accelerating, scaling and prodcutionalizing deliverables so the team can deliver RWE solutions at scale. Also, the candidate will play a critical role in mentoring and educating the RWE and advanced analytics team in the adoption of technical best practices and common tools.
• Provide organizational leadership in the adoption of RWE solutions for R&D. This will require advocating to Global Regulatory, Therapy Area and Data Science leadership for the appropriate use of RWD in R&D Trial planning, regulatory submission and in a post approval setting. This will require thought leadership in interpreting and actioning guidance from regulatory agencies to optimize the value of RWE to the JJIM R&D pipeline.
• Where appropriate, conceptualize and lead the development of novel methodology to quantify and mitigate biases found in RWD, enabling usage for a wide variety of applications, such as hybrid trial control arms, external control arms. Develop an R&D Organization RWE strategy that distinguishes Data Science Analytics & Insights through validating real-world methods and developing novel designs leading to intellectual property patents or publication.
• Support external communication of RWE solutions, such as regulatory agency interactions, external publications.
• Directly manage and oversee operational efficiencies to deliver RWE solutions at scale, such as fostering the development of pipelines, functions, packages to perform frequently used actions and/or deliverables across broad group of stakeholders. Identify common technical requirements for RWE projects, develop and maintain a common suite of tools that enables RWE data scientists to accelerate delivery and scale common deliverables.
Qualifications
• A Ph.D. degree, or master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or similar)
• At least 12 years of relevant experience within pharmaceutical, technology, or biopharma
• Experience in generating HTA- and regulatory-grade evidence, communicating and responding to agency reviews and comments.
• At least 5 years direct people leadership experience and leading other people managers in the area of RWE or closely related field
• A proven track record of working in a multifunctional/ matrixed organizational environment with clinical, regulatory and statistical teams
• Extensive hands-on experience with statistical modeling, time-to-event analyses, comparative effectiveness analyses, causal inference methods to mitigate observed and residual confounding (e.g., propensity score matching/weighting, instrumental variables, state transition models)
• Demonstrated expertise with multiple real-world data sources (EHR, insurance claims, registry data). Familiarity with data structure and programming of clinical trial data
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Experience with and a broad understanding of database programming and use of statistical programming languages including expert proficiency in either, R or Python working proficiency in SAS and SQL.
Preferred qualifications:
• Expertise externally controlled studies in drug development

The anticipated base pay range for this position is 212000 to 391000.
