We are in the search for the best talent for a Technical Trainer, Robotics Solutions, based in Santa Clara, CA.
The Technical Trainer will play a pivotal role in designing, planning, preparing, conducting, and evaluating instructional programs focused on the installation, maintenance, repair, upgrades, and clinical application of robotic devices. This individual will demonstrate exceptional technical aptitude coupled with outstanding communication skills, enabling them to convey complex topics in a clear, engaging, and easily comprehensible manner. In addition to delivering training, the trainer will collaborate with managers, product support engineering, manufacturing, and R&D to assess employee training needs and strategize technical skill development plans tailored for both teams and individuals.
You will be responsible for:
- Design, plan, prepare, course training materials (course outlines, background material, instructional materials, and training aids), and conduct training through classroom training, electronic learning, multimedia programs, and other computer-aided instructional technologies.
- Assess training needs and certification requirements.
- Design of computer-based and multimedia curriculum.
- Assess the skill level and training gaps of employees.
- Host train-the-trainer sessions with internal subject matter experts.
- Manage and maintain service training facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain a safe and healthy training environment by following organization standards and legal regulations.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in relevant engineering field, including Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, Systems, or Robotics Engineering.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of work experience as a Technical Trainer or in a similar role.
- Understanding of programming concepts and ability to modify existing code (C++, python, etc.).
- Knowledge and experience using SOLIDWORKS Simulation.
- Experience in developing technical course content using web-based learning platforms, modern training techniques and tools.
- Knowledge of instructional design to implement and complete full training cycles (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Linux experience.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and wiring schematics.
- Knowledge of Project management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Agile tools, MS Office, SharePoint, etc.).
- Understand and apply GDP principles.
- Medical device, healthcare, and/or robotics experience.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain technical terms using simple language.
- Strong analytical skills to assess the level of experience of trainees, identify areas where training should be expanded, and determine effectiveness of existing training program.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments and to put together training materials in a logical order so that students can follow the information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing training materials, and to lead training programs.
- Problem-solving skills to determine how to address training gaps or areas where training programs can be improved.
- Ability to collaborate on training content within a cross-functional array of service, mechanical, electrical, system, and software engineers.
- Certification in training such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer).
Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestic US and Internationally, with overnight stay.
- Ability to work fully onsite at the J&J office in Santa Clara, CA.
Work Environment:
- This position operates in a laboratory/assembly environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands:
- May require lifting of up to 50 lbs. and operation of hoisting equipment for heavier loads.
- May require prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, and kneeling during system assembly.
California Bay Area - The anticipated base pay range for this position is $89,000 to $140,185.
