Our Staff Project Manager, PPMG, R&D, is responsible for project management ownership for one or multiple new product development (NPD) teams within the Ethicon Wound Closure Healing & Biosurgery franchise. The NPD team's responsibilities encompass product design, manufacturing process design, design transfer and product launch. Key success metrics for this role are meeting project objectives including, but not limited to, time to market, cost of goods (COGS), development costs, quality metrics and ability to meet projected demand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support NPD Project Head to achieve project objectives from product conception to commercialization with general direction.
  • Ensure that the project is delivered according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality baselines.
  • Provide direct communication to management on progress, opportunities and issues along with identification and recommended remediation for institutional bottle necks.
  • Lead the effort across the cross-functional team to create a project charter and demonstrate the ability to direct and manage project work on multiple projects.
  • Lead project planning and risk planning sessions to co-create the high-level product development and launch schedule through the phase-gate process.
  • Create and maintain detailed project timelines, identifying key milestones and deliverables, and ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations while regularly updating progress and adjusting resources as necessary.
  • Oversee project level risk management by employing thorough mitigation assessment and planning methodologies. Develop and implement risk management execution strategies, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements, while continuously monitoring and reporting on risk factors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track team delivery on commitments using project plans, Gantt charts, burndown charts and other visual methods and track team velocity and other performance metrics to ensure accuracy of future planning.
  • Mentor team members on project management (Waterfall and Agile Scrum) principles and drive conflict resolution.
  • Empower teams to self-organize and facilitate continuous improvement activities through retrospectives
  • Identifies options and negotiates effectively using pro's and con's of different alternatives to stakeholders
  • Champion PMBOK project management best-practices, including Agile Scrum adoption across the organization.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, marketing, general business required; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred

Experience and Skills:

Preferred:

  • Medical Device experience preferred

Required:

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience required
  • Requires minimum 4 years in a Project Management and/or Scrum role, or Project Management Certified with demonstrated project-related experience
  • Experience with Smartsheet, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal and skills and an ability to work effectively with teams
  • Project Management Certification (e.g., FPX, PMP) and/or Scrum Master Certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I, PMI-ACP) preferred
  • Requires solid knowledge of Agile development methodologies or PMBOK principles
  • May require domestic and international travel based on project needs
