Job description:

• Staff Engineer will provide technical expertise in the areas of design, development, testing and production scale-up of new packaging components, systems and processes. They independently lead complex engineering assignments and may provide mentorship and coaching to other Package Engineers.

• This position supports all Mentor business units

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute projects having a significant impact on company programs.

• Provide departmental technical expertise and collaborates with research and development, product management, stability, regulatory, and quality process among other functions to ensure all package design requirements are met.

• Lead all aspects of the product / package portfolio develop business strategies for continuous improvement related to design, process and validation.

• Full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments.

• Determine and coordinate physical testing to ensure product and package integrity for manufacturing through end users.

• Lead resolution of packaging related issues in manufacturing, compliance, and the field.

• Develop recommendations on general packaging guidelines and standards for processes and functional requirements and ensure regulatory requirements are satisfied.

• Continually evaluate new packaging solutions and alternatives to improve operating efficiency, generate market differentiators and add sources of revenue.

• Promote and cultivate the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance and actively supports our compliance program-related initiatives and activities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• A minimum Bachelor's Degree in Package Engineering or other Technical Degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical Engineering, etc.)

• A minimum of 6 years of experience

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Experience with new product development and commercialization of products in a regulated industry as an engineer

• Knowledge of various packaging materials and common packaging systems

• Experience as a package development engineer or a strong understanding of the package development process and responsibilities

• Experience supporting projects as the technical lead/SME

• Proficiency in computers and technology including Microsoft Office applications

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

• Strong knowledge in Solid Works

Preferred:

• Experience within the Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical industries

• Experience working with medical device package development

• Knowledge of Package Assembly and Manufacturing processes

• Knowledge of sterile barrier packaging systems and design verification including ASTM or ISTA test methods

• Knowledge and experience with ISO11607

• Understanding of sterilization modes used in medical devices

• Project management experience or certification

• People leadership experience
