The Sr. Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for providing fair, balanced, objective, scientific information and education to opinion leaders (OLs), health care professionals, and to internal partners as required by scientific and business needs. The Sr. MSL is considered a scientific and clinical knowledge lead on current and future J&J MedTech Surgery products. The Sr. MSL is responsible for staying abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends. The Sr. MSL provides research support for company and investigator-initiated research. The Sr. MSL will function with high integrity and follow credo values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building external relationships with the health care or surgical provider team and developing and managing a geographical territory.
  • Developing and maintaining a territory strategic plan, which includes clinical activities with identified OLs, institutions, community practices, pathways influencers and advocacy organizations.
  • Develop a competency in the areas of Influence & Results Focused, Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, Product Knowledge, and Data Insights & Dissemination.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build community and academic opinion leader partnerships through establishing relationships and conducting scientific exchange with community and institutional HCPs.
  • Execute research initiatives, maintain strong scientific acumen, and support department operations and internal partners.
  • Represent and support Johnson and Johnson MedTech Surgery scientific meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings. Interpret and report findings with recommendations for action to relevant internal partners.


Qualifications

Education & Required Skills/Experiences:

  • MD/DO, DNP, DPAS, PhD, or PharmD degree
  • Will consider advanced medical degree - Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with at least 2 years of relevant clinical experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of MSL experience and/or 3 years relevant work experience which can include clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical work experience.
  • Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/congresses/headquarters
  • A valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and utilization of computers and remote technologies
  • Reside within the defined assigned territory or eligible for relocation consideration

Preferred Skills & Experiences:

  • Knowledge or experience in performing surgical procedures and managing patient pathways
  • Experience in the medical technology industry

Other:

  • This position is based in the Houston area and requires the ability to support travel of 50%-70% which includes in territory as well as overnight travel, including some weekend commitments

The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$175,500] to [$230,000]

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
