The Sr. Manager, Data & Analytics (D&A) Category Procurement will be part of a global team responsible for setting and leading the procurement strategy for Data & Analytics solutions within the J&J Innovative Medicine sector anchored on deep supply market knowledge and thorough understanding of biopharmaceutical business needs. The role will report directly to the Sr. Director, Global Category Lead for D&A Procurement and dotted line to Director, Global Data Procurement.
Data & Analytics (referred to as Global Strategic Insights in current Procurement taxonomy) covers all external supplier solutions needed to develop data-driven insights for strategic decision-making and business actions. This includes Primary Market Research, Secondary/Syndicated Data, Analytics and Data Science as well as Real World Data and Evidence Generation solutions.
As a member of the Category Procurement Team, the role is expected to build & cultivate partnerships with key J&J Innovative Medicine Data & Analytics internal and external stakeholders to ensure broad range of perspectives and insights that are critical to the development of effective and efficient procurement approaches. The role is also expected to shape and govern the Data & Analytics supply base segments and manage strategic suppliers to ensure performance, continuous improvement, and innovative solutions. Lastly, the role is expected to deliver on Procurement's functional and operational objectives by translating category strategy into clearly defined actions to create value from spends in close collaboration with Regional Agile Teams, Global Services, Responsible Sourcing and Procurement Process & Capabilities Teams.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and drive the global vision & implementation of a D&A Sub-Category Procurement strategy to effectively meet the long-range needs of J&J Innovative Medicine business based on subject matter expertise, data analysis and understanding of external industry/market dynamics
• Identifies global demand requirements and partners with Business to deliver annual value improvements and drives competitive advantage. Will also be responsible for overseeing D&A category procurement priorities and activities across an assigned region of focus.
• In partnership with Agile and Global Services Procurement, ensure execution of global D&A sub-category strategies to include sourcing strategy execution, negotiations, contract implementation and performance against established targets.
• In partnership with Agile and Global Services Procurement, identify, develop, and advise the global implementation of D&A Sub-category Procurement goals to deliver the maximum value for J&J in terms of financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
• Globally develop supplier partnerships with strategic suppliers to include performance management, improvement of end-to-end value, and bring innovation to the business; Interface directly with suppliers to assure alignment of J&J's objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation, and cost. Must consider growing spend with Social Enterprises and other Diverse enterprises.
• Understands operational considerations to strongly facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of processes, policies, guidelines, content that drive end user efficiency.
• Take on special responsibilities and initiatives in line with development plans.
• Raise issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization.
Qualifications
Key Knowledge and Experience:
• Deep understanding of sourcing and procurement operations, processes, and strategy. Experience in J&J Procurement is preferred.
• Foundational knowledge of Data & Analytics and relevant business applications (not required to be a data practitioner or data scientist); Working knowledge of Pharmaceutical Research, Development and Commercialization.
• Experience driving procurement of data & data-science-related areas or categories; including technology, data, or analytics
• Experience working with all size suppliers and contracts within a large enterprise environment
• Critical consideration also includes effective risk management of data & data science domain risks like privacy, data security, and intellectual property

Education & Career Background:
• Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Marketing, Supply Chain, Science or Business discipline; MBA or further advanced degree is desirable
• Proven track record of at least 8+ years with multi-category and multi-sector experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses is required
• High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management and performance, supply market analysis, category management, operational excellence, etc.). Experience in J&J Procurement preferred.
