We are searching for the best talent for our Surgical Robotics Software Algorithms Internship position, based in Santa Clara, CA.
The Software Algorithms Intern will join the Software Algorithms team - a group of highly dedicated scientists and software engineers partnering with core R&D functions to translate ground breaking research into production-level software for our flexible robotics platform. We tightly integrate with the Algorithms / AI and front-end Applications groups to develop critical software components for surgical navigation, medical image processing & analysis, computer vision, data visualization, and AI, and to support continuous improvement through customized tooling.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing, implementing, and testing custom software tools (Python/C++) for conducting post-case analyses and facilitating rapid prototyping
- Working with team members to understand requirements and use cases
- Actively participating in algorithm, software design, and code reviews
- Unifying and/or refactoring existing tools and functionality
Qualifications
Qualifications / Required:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related Engineering field, and returning to an academic program after the completion of the internship
- Strong understanding of computer science and software development fundamentals (e.g., SOLID design principles, data structures, dependency management, source control, etc.)
- Programming experience in both Python and C++, with a strong background in at least one
- Excellent communication and documentation
- Able to work in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., F1, H1-B status)
- Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher and be available to work the hours agreed upon with the hiring manager
Qualifications / Preferred:
- Experience developing applications with Qt
- Knowledge of computer graphics and common frameworks (OpenGL/Vulkan, VTK)
- Experience with common Python data science packages (e.g., pandas, numpy/scipy, matplotlib, etc.)
- Knowledge of computer vision and medical imaging a plus
Qualifications / Other:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
The anticipated base pay for this position for candidates is Sophomore $31.00/hr, Junior $34.50/hr, Senior $38.00/hr, Masters $45.00/hr, PhD $59.00/hr.
This position is ineligible for severance.
