This candidate will join the growing Discovery Proteomic Platforms (DPP) group within the Discovery Technologies and Molecular Pharmacology (DTMP) department of Therapeutics Discovery to apply groundbreaking approaches to proteomic and chemical proteomic analysis. Be a part of a motivated team dedicated to deploying groundbreaking technologies to support Johnson & Johnson's targeted protein degradation efforts. Work in an exciting, interdisciplinary environment, overlapping the different stages of the discovery pipeline. With your help, we will drive development of medicines for our patients!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Join a team of wet lab scientists enabling proteomic insights across a wide variety of programs and therapeutic modalities.
  • Plan and perform wet lab proteomic activities related to the rapid evaluation of therapeutic candidates and drive SAR enabled risk mitigation of small molecules.
  • Develop novel methodologies for target deconvolution deploying automated sample preparation and mass spectrometry.
  • Design and apply high efficiency automation supported proteomics sample preparation methodologies across proteomic and chemical proteomic experiment types.
  • Present data and reports on project status at individual, working group, and project meeting settings.
  • Demonstrate creativity and apply novel approaches to solving scientific problems. Propose novel and practical ideas, aligned with scientific strategies and demands.


Qualifications

Education:

  • A Doctoral degree (in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field) is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 5 years of proven experience in a laboratory setting, including 1+ years in a label free mass spectrometry lab is required.
  • Experience with liquid chromatography (UltiMate 3000, Vanquish Neo or Evosep One) and mass spectrometry (Thermo Exploris, Eclipse, Astral or Bruker timsTOF) instrumentation is required.
  • Experience processing and analyzing large scale proteomic datasets is required.
  • Strong planning and project coordination skills with the ability to handle several projects at a time in a fast paced environment is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills working with diverse colleagues is required.

Preferred:

  • Experience planning and performing targeted protein degradation experiments is preferred.
  • Proficiency with lab liquid handling automation (AssayMAP Bravo, Beckman Biomek, Hamilton Microlab STAR, TECAN Fluent, or Dynamic Devices Lynx) use is preferred.
  • Experience in an industry drug discovery environment is preferred.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture is preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 to $169,050.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

    • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
    • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
    • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
