The candidate will join the Lung Disease Area Stronghold (DAS) Discovery team, to help develop innovative biologics and small molecules for the treatment of cancer. They will work in an exciting and stimulating environment across the different stages of preclinical drug discovery (including target identification, target validation, and preclinical candidate characterization). The highly motivated successful candidate will have a strong hands-on background in cancer biology, show initiative, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. In this laboratory-based position, the scientist will be responsible for the design, execution, troubleshooting and interpretation of critical experiments that support development of novel therapeutic agents. S/he will be organized, thrive in a team environment, show leadership and be sensitive to timelines. The scientist will also collaborate with colleagues in other functional groups, as well as present scientific results to multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops hypotheses, designs, conducts and interprets biological experiments to support preclinical discovery programs in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook.

• Independently reworks experiments and/or analyses based on interpretations and integration of emerging literature, spending nearly all time in the lab with minimal to no supervision or assistance.

• Work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under fixed timelines

• Contribute on various projects outside of his/her own and collaborate with partners from all relevant functions.

• Author technical reports, prepare clear and concise summaries of data and present to the cross-functional project team and senior colleagues.

• Performs general literature and research searches, including analysis and interpretation.

Qualifications

Education:

• M.S. with six or more years of pharmaceutical research experience OR Ph.D with more than 2 years of pharmaceutical research experience is required.

• Five or more years of experience in the cancer biology field is required

• Oncology drug discovery experience in Industry setting is highly preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Highly motivated self-starter, proactive and able to excel within a matrix organization.

• Ability to perform tissue culture (immortalized cancer cells and primary cells) is required

• Expertise and experience in cell/molecular biology skills is required (e.g., transfection/infection, western blotting, multi-color flow cytometry, cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assays with ADCs and immune cells (using Incucyte), and ELISA / MSD.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills are required
