The Biophysics group within Biologics Discovery is committed to the delivery of high-quality drug candidates. The Senior Scientist position offers an exciting opportunity to join the team involved in developing and applying innovative technologies to characterize biophysical attributes of molecules throughout the discovery process, from initial hit generation to lead molecule selection. This role will specifically focus on the real-time characterization of interactions with cell surface targets, as well as determining epitope diversity and high throughput binding studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and perform real-time interaction cytometry assays to determine binding to cell surface targets.
- Perform SPR-based epitope binning assays.
- Conduct SPR binding analysis to determine binding and activity properties.
- Independently interpret and communicate the results to program teams and management.
- Design and implement new techniques and strategies to study biophysical characteristics of assets and to optimize the Biophysics characterization workflow.
- Function as a project team representative for the Biophysics group.
Qualifications
Education:
- Ph. D. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other related fields with a minimum of 0-3 years postdoctoral experience or a minimum of 8-10 years of experience performing progressively advanced duties beyond a B.S. degree.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Deep understanding of cell biology and hands on experience with cell culture is required.
- Deep understanding and hands on experience characterizing biomolecules using SPR techniques is required.
- Expertise in characterization of interactions with cell surface targets/membrane proteins is required.
Preferred:
- Solid understanding of the fundamentals of antibody structure and function is desired.
