Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Manager to join our Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Supply Chain organization located in Wilson, North Carolina.
While this role will ultimately support the site operations located in Wilson NC, this role will also be required to support the project phase across both design & construction. For the project design phase, the role will require you to be present with our design teams in the Greater Philadelphia region. Once the design phase is completed, this role will support the construction and operational start-up of the site. For this, you will be required to be on site in Wilson, NC. Based on your current location the hiring team will work with you to determine travel and relocation arrangements. In steady state, we expect travel to be less than 10%.

The MAM (MAKE Asset Management) organization operates as one integrated team in the delivery of Engineering, Maintenance and Execution Systems solutions. We operate in a standard, coordinated and consistent manner in support of the current and future requirements of our Manufacturing and Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) and in partnership with key internal/external network.
The Maintenance Senior Manager leads Maintenance operations throughout the implementation of preventive maintenance programs, equipment repairs, and maintenance engineering projects that contribute to the optimization and increased productivity of the organization's manufacturing facilities and equipment.
The selected candidate will manage highly technical individual contributors and Supervisors that execute production equipment and utilities maintenance to support the safety, environmental, cost, quality and production needs of the US LMDS Site targeting optimum operational conditions to align with company production standards and cGMP requirements. He/She will partner and collaborate with Operations, Quality, MSAT, Global Engineering Technologies, Facilities Management and EHS, among other teams, to set up Safety, Calibrations and Master Data, Documents, Spare Parts, Utilities and Equipment Maintenance Systems for the newly constructed site. This role will also improve the reliability of assets and the effective use of site resources. Accountable for fostering a positive work environment and a collaborative, "can-do" culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of individual contributors and Supervisors and is accountable for conducting effective performance management, training and development, succession planning and meaningful career development conversations.
- Establishes processes to facilitate the implementation of preventive maintenance programs, equipment repairs, and maintenance projects that contribute to the optimization and increased productivity of the manufacturing and utilities equipment.
- Set up Safety, Calibrations and Master Data, Documents, Spare Parts, Utilities and Equipment Maintenance Systems.
- Develops tactical and operational plans for the Maintenance team and supports organizational objectives and business goals by optimizing the productivity and reliability of manufacturing facilities and equipment. Allocates resources to meet objectives and goals of the Maintenance area (reliability, availability, cost, and compliance) and monitors execution to ensure on-time production schedules.
- Oversees maintenance programs, repair projects and serves as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborates on risk assessments regarding the integration and utilization of new equipment and machinery by conducting engineering reviews of proposed equipment to assess reliability, maintenance costs, and identifying "unknown" safety risks and asset criticality ranking.
- Responsible for budget compliance and cost-effective use of resources including internal maintenance cost, service providers, spare parts, and contractors.
- Accountable for the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Process. Ensures that corrective work orders are properly planned, and that weekly schedules are developed, executed, and tracked with corresponding key metrics /performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain assigned areas in a state of GMP and EHS audit readiness by ensuring compliance with Policies, SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), good documentation practices, and housekeeping standards.
- Maintain a culture of GMP compliance by ensuring that all site SOPs are strictly followed and that all deviations, events/Non-Conformances are reported, investigated, and corrected in a timely manner. Manage the completion of all assigned CAPA's (Corrective and Preventative Actions) and provide Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) support as necessary.
- Maintain an Environmental Health and Safety culture of ownership and compliance of regulations and company policies, including, use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) LOTO (lock-out Tag-out system) timely reporting and investigation of EHS incidence and accidents, and commitment to safety standards and site safety programs.
Qualifications
Education (required):
- B.S. degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a maintenance environment preferably within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry
OR
- Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a maintenance environment preferably within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry
Required:
- Extensive people management experience, including leading technical teams, manage multiple customer needs, prioritizing work, and deliver results.
- Strong working knowledge of bio or pharmaceutical processes, utilities, and facilities.
- Expertise in cGMP's for Maintenance in an FDA regulated environment.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Equipment Excellence (ME2)/ Best Practices for Maintenance and Reliability.
- Strong influencing, partnering, collaboration, analytical skills, critical thinking and excellent oral and written presentation skills.
- Proven business and strategic acumen, including project management and financial management experience.
Preferred:
- In-depth understanding of the ISA S95 & S88 standards and how they should be used within the Global Supply Chain
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies
