Senior Director, Head of Multi-Omics Discovery

Johnson & Johnson s recruiting for a Senior Director, Head of Multi-Omics Discovery, located in either Spring House, PA, Boton, MA or Beerse, Belgium.

The Senior Director will report to the Vice President of DTMP and will be responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive 3-year plan to support the Discovery portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities, utilizing advanced Omics technology platforms, including Functional Genomics, Transcriptomics, and Proteomics. A key focus will be on building strong partnerships with Therapeutic Area leaders to develop and reshape target biology strategies. This role will accelerate drug discovery timelines by applying high-dimensional biology and multi-omics platforms to efficiently generate and validate hypotheses, rapidly identify potential drug candidates, and uncover novel biomarkers that signal disease progression and treatment response. The Senior Director will also drive a paradigm shift from traditional target selection to New Molecular Entity (NME) nomination, leveraging integrated high-dimensional biology platforms to model cellular pathways in both healthy and disease states.

This role will require the ability to assess a large number of drug targets simultaneously within complex cellular models, using genetic and proteomics readouts to predict liability, differentiate modalities, and connect underlying mechanisms from phenotype to gene in patient samples. The Senior Director will guide Discovery projects in interpreting and utilizing high-dimensional biology data to inform decisions. Additionally, they will be responsible for building an end-to-end process that applies integrated omics platforms at scale, enabling faster hypothesis generation, validation, and translatability across programs.

The Senior Director will also play a critical role in identifying and validating combination strategies for Immunology (IMM) and Oncology (Onc) programs, increasing the throughput of single-cell technologies and data analytics to advance immune cell phenotyping, and driving co-stimulatory molecule research and T-cell therapies. They will lead efforts in next-generation RNA sequencing (RNAseq) and proteomics for target discovery, validation, and biosignature development across multiple modalities, enabling progress on difficult target classes. This leadership position will ensure the delivery of comprehensive data packages to assess target progression and risk, driving innovation and efficiency in the drug discovery process.

Major Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Coordinate project needs and timeline and deliverables and resource distribution across portfolio and across sites

Address cutting-edge and scalability needs to support therapeutic discovery and optimization

Drive team efficiency and rapid data turn around time to impact portfolio

Develop and execute partnerships with leaders across competitive landscape and partners

Participate in DTMP strategy development and future function upgrade and lean process/concept launch and Lead Bluewater project

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Biology and 15+ years of industry experience with a strong record of individual and team-level contributions to the discovery and development.

• Be an establish leader of leaders who is versed in managing Director level direct reports with leadership experiences managing diverse teams.

• Recognized scientific expert with an outstanding record of high impact publications, oral presentations, and review articles.

• Experience on a senior management team guiding functional deliverables.

• An ability to provide go/no decisions at the key project milestone and guide resource needs across portfolio

• Broad experience in functional genomics, omics, proteomics and phenomics for drug discovery and development

• An unparalleled ability to interact collegially with multidisciplinary teams to enable critical decisions for multiple projects across multiple therapeutic areas

• Experience in overseeing and directing scientific activities within their team; managing 'virtual' and/or remote scientific team(s) across different geographic locations.

• An ability to manage budgets and prioritize competing portfolio demands

• Experience in leading external partnerships with multiple, diverse types of research organizations, including academic institutions, contract research organizations, and public-private consortia.

• Broad knowledge in advancing translatable cellular models, high dimensional technology platforms and computation biology for target ID/validation, therapeutic efficacy assessment and translational biomarker discovery

• An established track record of the implantation and integration of multi-omics platforms such as functional genomics, phenotypic platforms, proteomics and/or single cell omics

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Preferred competencies include:

• Substantial drug discovery experience in Oncology, Inflammation, and Neuroscience.

• Strong networking skills with a desire to seek out novel opportunities and options for external innovation alliances.

• Experiences in leading therapeutic discovery and modality discovery in Small Molecules, Biologics, ADC and RNA modulators will be a plus

Travel up to 25% which includes both domestic and international.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is 187000 to 322000.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year.
