We are searching for the best talent for a Robotics and Controls Software Internship position, based in Santa Clara, CA.
The Robotics & Controls Intern will join the wider Robotics & Controls team. We are a group of highly motivated roboticists working on development of algorithms and productions level software that live at the heart of a complex robotic surgical system for medical applications. We work in a variety of exciting robotic functions including but not limited to kinematic and dynamic analysis, motion generation, control algorithms, system response characterization, performance and detailed software development.
You will be responsible for
• Understanding and navigating large codebases.
• Developing C++ software for real-time, safety critical applications.
• Deploying clean and efficient new code and refactor existing code to align with production level coding standards.
• Participating in software discussions and code reviews with broader teams and quickly incorporate feedback.
Qualifications
Qualifications / Required:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or other related Engineering, and returning to an academic program after the completion of the internship.
• Strong programming experience in C++.
• Familiarity working with large codebases and have a good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. object-oriented design, data structures, templates, polymorphism etc. in UNIX environments)
• Excellent communication and documentation.
• Able to work in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., F1, H1-B status).
• Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher and be available to work the hours agreed upon with the hiring manager.
Qualifications / Preferred:
• Strong programming experience in Python.
• Familiarity with robot kinematics and dynamics.
• Familiarity with classical control theory and estimation techniques.
• Familiarity with classical mechanics analysis techniques
Qualifications / Other:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
The anticipated base pay for this position for candidates in a Robotics discipline is Sophomore $31.00/hr, Junior $34.50/hr, Senior $38.00/hr, Masters $45.00/hr, PhD $59.00/hr.
The anticipated base pay for this position for candidates in other Engineering disciplines (not Robotics) is Sophomore $28.50/hr, Junior $30.00/hr, Senior $32.00/hr, Masters $38.00/hr, PhD $42.50/hr.
This position is ineligible for severance.
