Reporting to the J&J MedTech Electrophysiology Procurement Director, the Manager, Procurement, New Product Development will help lead the J&J MedTech Electrophysiology business unit to contemporary best practice sourcing support for NPD (New Product Development) and the delivery of results. He / she will be a key leader in driving a fully integrated best in class New Product Development Procurement program within Electrophysiology business unit as required. This leader is expected to provide hands-on leadership in all aspects of global sourcing for new product introduction, having overall responsibility for supplier selection, quality, reliability, innovation and cost.
He / she will lead the supplier selection process and provide overall coordination, facilitation and enablement of programs that will drive best practice NPD and will leverage J&J's position in direct material categories. In addition, this role will lead and shape the sourcing strategy for recently launched products to enhance supply reliability and improve gross profit.
Responsibilities:
- Lead franchise NPD/ R&D groups in the selection, evaluation and qualification of suppliers of materials and services including Electrical Components, Plastics, Metals, Chemicals, Packaging, External Manufacturing, and selected services for all assigned projects.
- Support 8+ NPD projects simultaneously across multiple businesses, global procurement categories, and geographies
- Partner with procurement category teams and senior leaders in R&D to identify unmet needs to drive the execution of sourcing strategies and innovative supplier solutions aligned to the franchise technology roadmap
- Lead multiple complex supplier negotiations simultaneously. Coordinate with key stakeholders, drive terms that are favorable for Biosense, and hand off stabilized products, contracts and suppliers to base business sourcing teams.
- Lead SOURCE due diligence and transaction support for the Biosense business development teams for both product supply/distribution and acquisition activities.
- Optimize quality, supply reliability, innovation and cost through early supplier engagement during product development.
- Drive innovation through identifying and developing external partner capabilities to meet future technology needs.
- Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
- For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
- Lead metrics reporting and efforts to standardize processes across NPD Procurement teams for One Ethicon & Cardiovascular Specialty Solutions businesses.
Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's and/or University degree is required; Advanced degree preferred
Required Skills:
- A minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional work experience
- Experience in a Procurement, Supply Chain/Operations, Quality, R&D or Engineering field
- Experience in Medical Devices or related industry
- Strong communication, influencing, negotiating, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage at the leadership level with both Suppliers and within J&J
- Ability to analyze components and raw materials sourcing requirements
- Proven ability to influence/collaborate
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- Procurement experience working with components and products related to Electrophysiology industry
- Diverse procurement experience across category sourcing, new product development sourcing or other sourcing areas
- Professional (APICS, ISM, Six Sigma) Certification
- Adaptable to meet rapidly changing priorities
Other:
- May require up to 25% domestic and/or international travel to other locations and sites
- California Bay Area - The anticipated base pay range for this position is 114,000 to 197,800.
