We are seeking a skilled Solution Architect to join our dynamic team that is working to change the trajectory of health for humanity! This role will work with our global early drug discovery organization, more specifically in the field of Chem-Informatics. You will drive the design and implementation of a groundbreaking Discovery Informatics platform, facilitating data access and providing advanced analytics and visualization solutions across the organization. This platform will support our drug discovery teams in the design of novel medicines that will have maximum impact in treating unmet medical need. Scalability, extensibility, and observability are essential attributes of this platform so that it can meet our data scientists' needs in the constantly evolving fields of high performance computing, machine learning (ML), and (generative) artificial intelligence (AI).
Primary responsibilities:
• Work as a technical leader on the team to craft and build forward-looking chem-informatics software solutions in collaboration with chemists, data scientists, engineering, and other business partners
• As a member of a diverse team, work directly with business, engineering, and quality in a fully agile product management model to rapidly realize business value using fast paced iterations
• Create and document architectural designs, and during build, conduct architectural reviews with engineering to ensure the team understands the architectural principles that enable timely delivery and cost-effectiveness
• Include chem-informatics-specific considerations in architectural designs, such as chemical structure representation, algorithm development, and integration with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
• Be abreast of the fast paced industry trends and new technologies, to decide on their integration into J&J's technical ecosystem. Evaluate and recommend appropriate technology platforms, frameworks, and tools for solution implementation.

Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred
Required:
• A minimum of 6 years experience as a Solution Architect, delivering scalable, extensible and reliable software products
• Proficiency in applying software architecture principles and design patterns
• Full-stack engineering experience, including software development in scientific programming languages, such as C/C++, Python, or CUDA
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline deployment
• Proven understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), cloud-native architectures and patterns, including microservices, serverless computing, and containerization
• Problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred:
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Understanding of chem-informatics principles, algorithms, and databases, with knowledge on how chemical structures are represented
• Interested in AI/ML and computational chemistry
• Familiarity with LIMS, regulatory requirements and industry standards in pharmaceutical or chemical research
The anticipated base pay range for this position in the US is $115,000 to $197,800.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

• Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
