The Principal Development Engineer will operate as an expert in components, equipment, assembly, and automation technologies across J&J MedTech Supply Chain. They will bring new, unique, and ground-breaking medical device assemblies to the market. This individual will be accountable for building strong relationships with multi-functional leadership to provide best-in-class engineering to deliver the most innovative and cost-effective New Product Development platforms to the world.
Key Responsibilities:
The Principal Development Engineer will:
- Work in a multi-functional team setting focused on product development accountable for timely development & validation of manufacturing and assembly equipment and processes including automation equipment, vision systems, sensors, and controls
- Develop strategies for procuring new capital equipment, Verification and Validation activities to deploy into a manufacturing environment
- Support the NPD process across JnJ Medtech companies by providing technical solutions, DFM, DFA, and Product Requirements, ensuring optimization for performance and cost
- Support Sustaining Engineering for assembly equipment and process improvements and ensure robust & reliable supply continuity
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree required in Engineering Field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum ten (10) years of relevant work experience required
- Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills, required
- Expert problem-solving and execution skills for developing creative solutions to technical problems, required
- Experience in product & process design for manufacturing & assembly (DFMA), required
- Regulated Industry and Manufacturing experience, required; medical device, preferred
- Requires up to 50% domestic & international travel
Other:
• The anticipated base pay range for this position is $99000 to, $170,200.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
