The NPI Staff Test Engineer is an individual with high motivation to launch products to market. Is determined to build a quality product and innovate through continuous improvement throughout the product's life cycle. This role is highly synergetic and works with R&D teams, technicians, and peers to develop the manufacturing process for a medical robotic system. Is also capable and passionate about developing, documenting and qualifying test processes used during the manufacturing of electro-mechanical components and subassemblies. This individual is continuously challenging the status quo while understanding the "why" in design intent and overall product functionality. The Staff Test Engineer activities include the design, development, and verification of test software and management of test hardware equipment for manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, improve and maintain the Manufacturing Test Infrastructure with emphasis on fool proof, reliable automated and semiautomated testing.
- Work with software and hardware engineering teams to develop, implement and validate the manufacturing test strategy for NPI.
- Prepare test capacity for new product's characterization.
- Define clearly entire production test plans.
- Work with development teams to influence design for Manufacturing and testing for NPI projects.
- Sustain test equipment and provide test system support for inhouse and contract manufacturers.
- Work with systems engineering on the development of test software algorithms and new products test plans.
- Write software for production test systems with an emphasis on programmable automated testing.
- Provide continuing optimization and enhancements to current test programs to increase yields plus minimize test costs.
- Must be able to interact with multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software and manufacturing engineers.
- Must be able to produce high quality documentation that is clearly understandable by internal and external personnel
- Monitor, Coach and mentor junior engineers and technicians
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required. A Masters Degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 6 years of related work experience.
- Experience in test systems engineering in electronic hardware and electromechanical components.
- Familiar with electrical and mechanical components typically used in robotics systems (sensors, motors, motion controllers, PCA and its components, cables, etc.).
- Skilled in C++, Python or any other object-oriented Programming language and GitHub branching repository.
- Project management skills and experience with PM tools like Jira, Confluence, MS project, etc.
- Experience in developing test methods, techniques, plans, requirements, procedures, and reports
- Experience with automated testing and test scrip development.
- Experience in development of digital and analog interfaces for PC-based test systems, especially (Labview, Matlab, Python).
- Able to read schematics and perform moderate electrical circuit troubleshooting.
- Experience working within a team environment and ability to take the lead role in test system ownership, development, deployment and support.
- Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks without close supervision.
- Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and manage on-time delivery.
- Exposure to best practices, i.e. lean manufacturing, continuous improvement is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and communications (written and oral) skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in Medical Device industry, Robotics, Manufacturing.
- Experience in Product Lifecycle Management systems such as Oracle Agile.
Other:
- Ability to travel (10%) to and from headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $114,000 to $197,800.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
