Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for a Manager, Technical Operations & Risk Communication to join our team! This position will be located in our New Brunswick, NJ office and operate on a hybrid schedule.

At Johnson & Johnson, the Technical Operations & Risk organization is responsible for looking holistically at external risks impacting J&J and strengthening the foundations of our technical and operational functions to convert incoming opportunities into tangible success.

The Manager, Technical Operations & Risk Communications will be responsible for communication activities in support of several global enterprise functions within the Technical Operations & Risk (TO&R) organization, including Engineering & Property Services. The Manager, Technical Operations & Risk Communications, will develop, shape and implement integrated communication plans for various TO&R functions, and serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders across TO&R-including E&PS.

Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) takes care of all J&J buildings around the world providing end to end services from Real Estate, Engineering & Strategic Project Delivery to Facilities Management. We have a profound influence on the entire J&J Enterprise, providing innovative workplaces (including 800 sites) where our employees can collaborate and grow, and delivering flexible site solutions which enable our business to best serve our important customers and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Executive & Organizational Communications:

  • Serve as a strategic communications counselor to the global heads of TO&R and their leadership teams.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic employee communications in support of the TO&R global functions, such as E&PS, highlighting the ways in which these organizations contribute to our J&J Credo, deliver on our TO&R promise and advance our TO&R strategic priorities.
  • Educate and inspire employees to uphold and continuously improve our commitments to safety, quality, compliance and sustainability.
  • Collaborate across GCA to drive proactive and coordinated enterprise communications at key tentpole moments such as Patient Safety Day, Engineering & Property Services Innovation Showcase, news related to our global facilities, etc.
  • Partner with leadership teams to engage and inspire employees through a cadence of organizational engagements (such as Town Halls and Senior Leader Meetings) designed to strengthen connection to leadership, ensure alignment with our strategic areas of focus and share progress against our key priorities.

Operational Communications:

  • Foster continuous collaboration with the broader EEX and TO&R communications teams to ensure alignment between global and regional communications programs and channels.
  • Partner with TO&R leaders, sector supply chain communications leads, and colleagues in the Enterprise & Employee Engagement team (EEX) to support risk management/business continuity activity, and uncover and amplify compelling stories that demonstrate our Credo commitment.
  • Proactively identify and apply key outcomes metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that drive confidence, integration and alignment. Develop metrics and assess impact.
  • Closely collaborate with broader TO&R communications teams to understand engagement metrics and design strategies to drive continuous improvement.

External Communications:

  • Develop and refine our core narratives for E&PS and other TO&R functions to clearly and consistently communicate the value we bring to the sectors and J&J enterprise.
  • Develop and source stories that communicate the ways in which E&PS and other TO&R functions are protecting the health and safety of patients, HCPs, employees and communities to showcase J&J's innovative approach to enterprise risk management.
  • Identify opportunities to proactively communicate our work in safeguarding patients worldwide from illicit trade and ensuring the integrity of our products, and our investments in advancing our integrated intelligence capabilities and implement AI to further strengthen our efforts in protecting patients and our brand.
  • Lead initiatives designed to elevate our Thought Leadership in E&PS and across other TO&R functions.
  • Reactively respond to media inquiries related to TO&R.
  • Ensure alignment and pull through of internal communications strategy across multiple teams within the Technical Operations & Risk global organization.
  • Monitor, measure, and improve day-to-day communication projects and programs using a continuous improvement mentality; analyze metrics and performance indicators to recommend improvements and drive more effective global communication.


Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing communication in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency; proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements
  • Leadership presence and the ability to inspire trust and build credibility
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to articulate complex or highly technical topics in a way that is easily understood by others, both written and verbal
  • Ability to "channel" expertise from technical subject matter experts into a compelling and interesting story for the general population
  • Ability to "channel" voice of various senior leaders, writing in a way that seems natural and compatible with their style and tone
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence and work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Strong relationship development, conflict resolution, and team building instincts, with the ability to build partnerships both internally and externally
  • Strong analytic and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated competency in multiple communications channels (presentations, web, online, print, video, etc.)
  • Familiarity across multiple J&J sectors
  • Experience leading teams and organizations with a demonstrated track record of successfully leading a multi-channel communications program
  • Ability to develop a deep technical understanding of topics from a range of subject matter experts across Real Estate, Engineering, Project Delivery and Facilities Management, yet distill this information into higher level messages and themes for a broader, non-technical audience, in a compelling way

The anticipated base pay range for this position is 99000 to 170200.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
