Position Summary
The Manager, Strategy and Planning is a member of the Global Strategic Marketing's (GSM) strategy and new business team and will be responsible for providing strategy support to aid in near to long-term business plan development and iteration as well as, ad-hoc strategic initiatives execution.
This role will be crucial in analyzing market trends, business challenges, and opportunities to provide insights that will influence strategic planning and decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to various stakeholders. In this challenging and highly visible role, this individual will partner with regional and global leaders--marketing, R&D, supply chain, business development, finance analytics, and other relevant functions--to support solution, megabrand and platform-level strategic decision-making by managing an analytics repository comprising market analysis, emerging industry trends, portfolio analysis, and competitive organizational needs to enable deep and novel strategic problem-solving.
The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic thinking, quantitative skills, complex problem-solving and the ability to influence without authority (esp. senior executives). They will be comfortable making and validating assumptions, monitoring the external environment and key competitors, and possess excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data to inform strategic initiatives.
- Develop and maintain financial models to assess the viability of new projects and investments.
- Partner with analytics and finance stakeholders to develop assumptions and guidelines for forecasting and business cases.
- Support critical processes related to strategic planning, business planning, investor relations, and budget coordination for their designated stronghold.
- Monitor industry developments and economic indicators to anticipate shifts that may impact the business.
- Develop and maintain strategic objectives, scorecards, and dashboards to support effective tracking and communication of execution against strategy.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- Perform other strategy, planning, and operations tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. Business/Finance/Marketing degree is preferred.
- A minimum of six (6) years of progressive business experience is required. Optical industry and/or medical device experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated record of strategic analytics within a key business function (e.g., marketing, innovation, operations, etc.) is required.
- Healthcare management or strategy consulting experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and senior management to facilitate decision-making is required, as well as a demonstrated track record in identifying growth opportunities and priorities.
- Prior experience with a matrix organization and proven ability to influence without direct authority is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with senior executives is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working with Legal, Regulatory and Global partners is preferred.
