Procurement is key enabler in driving and supporting Johnson & Johnson's growth. As part of the Procurement organization's Chemicals Category, the Manager is responsible for driving and/or supporting all aspects of spend performance such as reliability, innovation, costs, supply network readiness, and corporate citizenship goals. They will also collaborate with the wider procurement and supply chain community. The Manager will support the J&J Innovative Medicine division and will report to Senior Manager, Chemicals Category who is based in Latina, Italy. Incumbent in the role will be primarily responsible for category management activities for defined sub-category spend.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing

  • Lead or support sourcing initiatives to identify the right supplier partners and build adequate material capacities to support business
  • Develop spend analysis and gather market intelligence in alignment with business goals
  • Influence business decision making to deliver ongoing value improvements and drive competitive advantage

Category Strategy Development

  • Develop / Support category sourcing strategy for defined spend portfolio through Business needs assessment, Market intelligence, Supplier evaluations and sourcing choices
  • Maintaina deep understanding of the business needs and external market trends to support the development of robust sub- category strategies
  • Proactively engage business partners and/or category managers to identify their needs and incorporate those needs into sub-category strategies
  • Develop and drive robust implementation of strategy and communication plan with defined buying channels and contracting strategies
  • Establish compliance reporting capabilities and supervise business compliance to strategies

Supplier Management

  • Develop and lead supplier partnerships / external manufacturing partnerships to drive performance delivery, risk mitigation, and value through supplier enabled innovation
  • Cultivate and use strategic relationships with key business partners (e.g., Internal business partners, supplier leadership, SRM/category leaders) to shape, optimize, and diversify the supply base
  • Measure supplier performance through defined critical metricsand implement improvement with underperforming suppliers
  • Develop innovative and sustainable solutions to identify and mitigate risk, drive long-term, end-to-end value, and achieve unmet business needs, as well as identify and pursue opportunities to develop supplier capabilities

Contracting

  • Mitigate business risk through the understanding of commercial, legal, and regulatory requirements and the use of efficient contracting channels, usingstandard processes and technology
  • Negotiate long term contacts with managed supplier, securing achievement of financial and reliability targets
  • Use procurement expertise and global business understanding to monitor the negotiation and execution of contracts
  • Ensure contract execution meets with business expectations and in full alignment with stakeholders and the organization's overall procurement and business strategy

Agile Project Support

  • Lead, support, or engage as procurement expert in the projects ranging from contracting, supply reliability, innovation, and new product development
  • Act as procurement SME in support to cross-material category specific or cross-category or franchise initiatives
  • Represent procurement in end-to-end supply chain initiatives of manufacturing network, digital tools/ technology adoption, and resiliency


Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's/University or equivalent degree; MBA or Master's preferred
  • APICS or other relevant Supply Chain certifications are helpful

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience within Supply Chain, with solid Procurement work experience
  • Experience leading projects, including influencing, partnering on, and shaping, with and without direct authority
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders across categories, functions and the broader supply chain
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and finance complexities within a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to engage, interact and negotiate value-enhancing relationships with suppliers
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions

Preferred:

  • Experience with Chemicals category (e.g., production, market complexities)
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Strategic Procurement, Sourcing, Category and Supplier Management, and/or Contracting
  • Experience within Pharmaceuticals industry
  • Experience with ERP, such as SAP

Other:

  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal) is required to communicate effectively and professionally; Spanish proficiency is preferred
  • Requires up to 20% domestic and/or international travel
  • Requires the ability, through our flexible work policy, to work on-site a minimum of three days each week, with the option for two remote workdays each week

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $172,500.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal, and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
