Job Summary:

Performs visual inspection, sorting, and accepts sutures and medical devices in various stages of production from outside facilities. Checks for specified and other visible defects. Perform 5-0 Inspection as required. Performs a variety of computer transactions and inspection type operations which includes checking contents, completing production and related records, travel tags, etc. for each batch. Secures packaging materials and supplies and positions at work areas. Loads, unloads, and moves carts, and pallets, and shipping containers as necessary. Loads and unloads pallets of material from and to trucks using a forklift, manual and/or electric pallet jacks. Performs required systems processing for products received from outside facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

Cognitive Abilities -

  • Pass and maintain training and qualification examinations as required.
  • Assess and input data into shop floor systems.
  • Accurate record keeping via computer management systems by in putting and retrieving data for production and maintenance.
  • Charting, and interpreting SPC information and operational data.

  • Must be willing to accept change and additional responsibilities and training associated with change.

Physical Abilities -

  • Performs visual inspection of shipping pallet to assess damage, if any, to the shipping container and/or product.
  • Verify 100% of incoming batches by comparing information on the D.O. sheet or transit report with the actual batches on the pallet.
  • Perform all required transactions - manual hardcopy, and all computer related transactions.
  • Create new travel tags, router sheets, and Batch History Records for each batch as required.
  • Process all required documentation related to the computer dataloggers (Temptale or other manufacturer) and/or log sheets, which accompany each shipping container.
  • Update the Ambient Exposure Log for each batch as required.
  • Perform count reconciliation between quantity transferred from outside facility and quantity received in department. If a discrepancy exists, 100% inspect product for batch integrity.
  • Complete all required transactions regarding shipping of the material back to the vendor or J&J facility.
  • Counts rejected product to determine quantity and records scrap and acceptable packets on production records.
  • Performs other work of a similar nature according to prescribed procedures as assigned.
  • Prepares weekly production report with the use of daily production records.
  • Responsible for processing dispositioned materials which have been Zeroed Out and reordering Exchange Books as required and ensuring proper quantity, department number and packaging information, including raw material codes, foil print information, travel tags, etc.
  • Receives, reconciles, verifies, re-palletizes, and inventories product as required.
  • Orders Production books, retrieves books, travel tags, bar-code sheets, etc. for processing.
  • Responsible for operation of computer systems required to physically order Production Order Books, Travel Tags, etc.
  • Responsible for performing JDE computer system transactions
  • Does any other work of a related nature and performs other work related duties as assigned.
  • Follow current compliance regulations and standards.
  • Works in accordance with ISO 14001 principles and environmental regulatory compliance requirements. Works in accordance with Ethicon environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS18001)
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Mechanical Requirements -

  • Demonstrate mechanical/technical aptitude.
  • Provide mechanical support for machines to include minor adjustments and troubleshooting. Setup and verify the machine(s) are running within proper process parameters.
  • Corrects minor set-up problems, diagnoses minor mechanical problems and makes mechanical adjustments as necessary.
  • Complete all line clearance requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Attend required Safety & Environmental Training
  • Satisfactory completion of Compliance Wire assignments.
  • Simple arithmetic
  • Reads orders, container numbers, shipping orders, bill of lading
  • Alertness, accuracy, physical strength, safety consciousness, cooperative, good memory, and patience.
  • Ensures departmental practices, work areas, and equipment is kept in a safe and orderly fashion.
  • Does any other work of a related nature and performs other work related duties as assigned.
  • Must have good work habits (neatness, organizational skills, time management skills, etc.).
  • Comply with all applicable quality management system, environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (for example, ISO 13485, ISO14001 & OSHAS18001).
