Position Overview
We are currently looking to hire an Import Export Logistics Specialist to join the team to manage the company's inbound and outbound freight, customs, and delivery operations. The role is the subject matter expert for movement for material, import rules, regulations, and duties. The primary responsibilities involve performing a variety of import/export duties to facilitate and ensure smooth transit with full compliance with customs laws and regulations and to continuously improve service levels to our customers.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare accurate required customs documents to facilitate and help keep international shipments on track. Administers effective and economical movement of goods in accordance with the company's policies.
- Manage shipping-lane validation and verification, and new lanes setup. Monitor and track import/export and domestic US shipments to ensure smooth transit through the shipping lanes and customs.
- Proactively track inbound/outbound shipments; investigate customs clearance issues and exceptions to determine root cause and work with stakeholders to drive prompt closure and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and conduct regulatory compliance/entry audit, develop and maintain associated data, reports, and documentation to ensure full compliance with customs laws and regulations. Provide and analyze data and KPIs for inbound/outbound transportation, trade compliance, importation, and exportation. Present and conduct internal compliance training as appropriate.
- Initiate, monitor, and revise policies, procedures, and service standards for customs clearance, freight, and brokerage. Stay current with changes in trade regulations, customs rulings, and tariff changes.
- Participate in warehouse projects to support business and selection growth.
- Contribute to process improvement and cost optimization initiatives in collaboration with internal and external customers to improve value-added services to exceed customers' expectations
- Maintain processes and documentation to retain statuses in qualified programs if applicable
- Validate invoices from logistics partners, dispute discrepancies, perform cost analysis and drive actions for continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work experience and certification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in and/or dealing directly with customs, a customs brokerage firm, or multi-national business.
- Experience with both import and export controls, including all areas addressed in trade compliance such as performing the correct HTS classification.
- Excellent working knowledge of logistics functions; knowledge of carrier operations and pricing structures.
- Proven operations experience in fast-paced process-driven manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; warehouse management software, ERP (QAD, Oracle preferred)
- Customs broker's license preferred.
- APICS certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels in a cross-functional global environment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities; strong analytical and organizational skills and action-oriented decision making.
- Strong team player with a service-oriented attitude and customer focus; who can drive successful work and operate to deadlines.
- Proactive, self-driven, flexible to manage changing priorities, and ability to take accountability and initiative.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $56,350 to $89,930.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

- Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
