The Global MedTech Privacy Leader, reporting directly into the Deputy Chief Privacy Officer and VP Sectors will be an expert individual contributor providing advice and counsel to MedTech business partners across the organization, including senior management. They will manage a variety of critical regulatory and/or legal services that have a significant impact on the business and ensure management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations relating to privacy and that policies and procedures are being followed. As the global owner of MedTech as a sector leader within the Global Privacy Organization (GPO), this individual will collaborate with the MedTech Global Leadership Team, the Global Legal Organization's (GLO) MedTech Leadership Team and GPO Leadership Team on developing and creating an appropriate strategy for service delivery with the GPO Regional Leaders and their teams.
The position will be located in the United States but will participate in regional and global projects on a regular basis. They will serve as strategic business partners for multiple operating companies and coordinate some cross-departmental activities, as advised by Global Privacy leadership, from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized counsel (legal and/or regulatory) and strategic advice to Senior Management on a wide range of legal and/or compliance issues within their subject matter expertise.
- GPO representation on MedTech Global Leadership Team, where appropriate.
- Set Global Privacy MedTech sector strategy including align with GPO Leadership Team.
- Work with GPO Leadership Team and Regional Privacy Leaders on budget requirements for MedTech.
- Support GPO with the GLO MedTech LT.
- Work with the GPO Operations team on addressing new and evolving external legal and regulatory requirements touching the MedTech industry.
- Innovate new methods for identifying and resolving compliance issues as a leading authority in the privacy compliance field.
- Partner with GPO Operations on sector context within the GPO Policy Stack - architecture, governance and co-creation of MedTech Use Case Specifications.
- Work closely with GPO Regional Leads to ensure aligned strategy globally with MedTech Leadership Team's goals and objectives.
- Identify key components required for GPO's Privacy Program enhancements and monitoring related to MedTech.
- Partner with Regional MedTech Team members in driving global sector projects and enterprise risk relating to MedTech.
- Work closely with Operations, Corporate Functions, Cyber Legal and Sector Regional Teams on the GLO Strategic Plan of Record projects and priorities.
- Participate in efforts to shape the external environment in areas relevant to the business and their subject matter expertise.
- Speak to privacy compliance best practices at industry events.
- Participate in targeted industry groups and/or think tanks according to J&J's external strategy.
- Participate in appropriate benchmarking as aligned with J&J's sector strategy.
- Lead meetings with Global Privacy colleagues to inform on MedTech strategy and to understand the requirements of the local operating companies within the MedTech sector.
- Support the GPO Communications & Training lead on development of education and training for GPO professionals.
- Support the GPO Regional Sector Leaders with oversight of critical compliance audits and investigations with a team or committee and advise Leadership on the best methods for assessing, monitoring, auditing and responding to compliance issues for MedTech sector globally.
- Advance other colleagues indirectly through consultation, mentoring, and collaborative leadership to build depth of capability, and provide functional (matrix) supervision.
- Proactively create a purpose driven environment by aligning Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives with personal strategies and goals.
Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelors' degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 10+ years overall experience is required.
- Experience and exposure to privacy aspects of novel technology projects.
- Time spent in Regional or Global privacy roles managing stakeholder and partner relationships either globally or across a region.
- Strong knowledge of global data privacy and data protection regulations and a good understanding of other major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation worldwide.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to influence at all levels of the organization without direct reporting lines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the company.
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in decision making.
- Detail-oriented approach needed to recommend and implement strategic improvements on a range of data privacy and data protection issues.
Preferred:
- Experience in the MedTech, Life Sciences and/or Healthcare industries is preferred.
- An IAPP Privacy certification is strongly preferred (CIPP/CIPM/CIPT).
The anticipated base pay range for this position is 146000 to 251850.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

- Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
- Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
- Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
