This position spearheads complex engineering assignments, enabling the development of advanced processes and design concepts to be shared across various locations. Performs comprehensive assessments of vendors and equipment to assist engineers in formulating cost-effective and easily maintainable designs, and then communicates these insights to management. Offers mentorship to junior technicians in planned experiments, machinery installations, testing, issue resolution, and enhancements. Adheres rigorously to company safety protocols, workplace directives, and precautionary actions. This individual is acknowledged as a site specialist in their field.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provides technical and process support for improvement to the production lines.
• Is the lead technical expert for equipment improvements to the production lines.
• Performs all validation activities for their field of expertise. This includes developing test plans and vendor visits to perform factory acceptance testing (FAT).
• Developing test plans post factory acceptance testing (FAT), remediation of open items and ensuring that equipment issues have been resolved prior to performing site acceptance testing (SAT) or installation qualification (IQ).
• Leads process improvements, reviews non-conformance data, addresses quality issues, provides protocol support, and manages deployment of enhancements to the line.
• Demonstrates mastery and is considered an expert/leader for key machine and/or software competencies across the entire site.
• Trains, certifies, and independently designs and creates technical developmental plans for junior technicians.
• Initiates and manages engineering projects to improve the throughput, cycle time, and yield of production equipment.
• Maintains current knowledge and adhere to provisions of Engineering Standards / best practices, FDA, OSHA, GMP, MPs, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, equipment specifications and process specifications.
• Assists in the design of experiments, under operational and developmental conditions, to decrease cycle times, increase yields, and improve machine reliability, repeatability, and standardization.
• Provides technical training to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Operations on new equipment.
• Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives, Vigilant for shop safety, environmental safety, product quality, ergonomics, and hazardous energy control.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education: A minimum of a Vocational, Certificate, Technical or associate degree required and/or equivalent work experience. Focused degree in electro-mechanical, PLC, pneumatics or equivalent industrial experience is preferred.
Required:
• A minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional work experience
• Maintenance or engineering experience with high volume production line environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work in an empowered work team environment
Preferred:
• Expert level knowledge and troubleshooting skills in the following areas are required: process improvement, injection molding, robotics, PLC systems, electro/mechanical devices, servo systems, safety devices, equipment installation, electro-mechanical troubleshooting/repair, equipment prototyping, production start-up, equipment process development and mechanical devices, controller, mechanical fabrication, reading and creating electrical and mechanical drawings, medical device equipment validation, including vendor site factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT) and installation qualification (IQ).
