Location: Raritan, New Jersey. This is a hybrid position with 3 days in-office.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Surgery Communications, this critical role will manage strategic communication for Johnson & Johnson MedTech's Surgery business, covering the US Region and strategic product communications. This is a comprehensive communications role, extending across internal and external communications and covering employee and culture communications, executive communications, strategic messaging and narrative development, thought leadership, media relations and social media, and product and thought leadership campaign activations.

The Director, US and Product Communications, Surgery role will serve as a valued counselor to the Surgery region and product platform leadership teams while also partnering with cross-functional marketing, education, and commercial teams to advance organizational priorities, drive strategy alignment, and implement communications campaigns aligned to commercial goals. This role will be required to build a deep understanding of the business, technology development and strategy, and market opportunities that will inform integrated communications and product launch plans in support of business objectives.

This will be a highly visible role as you will work in close collaboration with global communications, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Johnson & Johnson leadership, and more.

This leader must be comfortable working in multifaceted, fast-paced environments with multiple internal and external partners to consider. A successful candidate will also demonstrate strong executive presence and the ability to thoughtfully advise senior executives, comfortably providing alternative points of view and advocating for communications resources. The position will lead a team of communications professionals and project teams of agency professionals on both an ongoing and as needed basis.

  • Lead communications for US Surgery business, working in close collaboration with business, J&J Medtech, and overall J&J communications partners.
  • Serve as a day-to-day strategic communications counselor and function liaison for US Surgery business leaders, including the regional Surgery US President and US leaders, on topics including business planning, commercial programs, employee engagement, issues management and public relations and campaign opportunities.
  • Serve as a partner to leaders across technology platform leaders, brand and marketing, R&D, Commercial, and Medical, Clinical, and Regulatory Affairs to connect business and brand objectives with communications strategy and outcomes.
  • Lead product communications for US Surgery business, excelling in launch communications, product narrative development, and broader product campaign communications that connect healthcare trends with the Surgery portfolio and can be packaged for other regional communications partners.
  • Establish and implement strategic communication strategies that increase positive share of voice and enhance reputation through execution of integrated communications plans, including direct-to-consumer and direct-to-customer campaigns, as well as thought leadership initiatives, spanning across earned and paid targeted print, broadcast, online, and social media channels
  • Drive consumer and professional awareness campaigns around disease states, medical evidence or new product features or enhancements in partnership with marketing.
  • Lead engagement plan and thought leadership opportunities and platforms (i.e. LinkedIn, Industry Meetings, Community and Giving Events).
  • Identify and manage issues that could affect business or company reputation.
  • Partner with HR and commercial leadership on change management for key internal initiatives in the U.S. Commercial business
  • Connect US regional team priorities and activities to global Surgery business, J&J MedTech team, and GCA resources to improve efficiency and effectiveness of programs and teams.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications is required.
  • Experience leading global communications efforts is required.
  • Ability to measure business impact for public relations programs is required.
  • Ability to manage agency partners and lead all aspects of budget is required.
  • Experience leading multiple priorities in fast-paced environment is required.
  • Experience with both external, commercially-driven communications (i.e. media relations, product communications, branding) is required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with internal communications (i.e. employee engagement, executive communications) is preferred.
  • Current or previous experience working in highly-regulated environment and a demonstrated understanding of regional health authorities is preferred.
  • Current or previous experience in healthcare is preferred.

Other:

  • This position may require up to 10-20% domestic travel.

Salary:

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,000 to $251,850.

Bonus:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
