Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Director Project Management Office to join our Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Supply Chain organization located in Wilson, North Carolina.

While this role will ultimately support the site operations located in Wilson NC, this role will also be required to support the project phase across both design & construction. For the project design phase, the role will require you to be present with our design teams in the Greater Philadelphia region. Once the design phase is completed, this role will support the construction and operational start-up of the site. For this, you will be required to be on site in Wilson, NC. Based on your current location the hiring team will work with you to determine travel and relocation arrangements. In steady state, we expect travel to be less than 10%.

This position is reporting to VP Site Delivery, the Expansion Project Leader will provide leadership and oversight to the shared functions of the projects. The PMO Lead will drive innovation to reduce cost and schedule by ensuring Project Delivery Process, Flawless Project Execution, best practices, benchmarking and industry learning are applied to the project. Proven experience in having E2E responsibilities from Engineering through Operational Readiness (Large Molecule or Similar Mfg Production projects in regulated environment) is a plus. This position contributes to the project progress helping to identify & expedite key activities across function, find solutions to key problems, and communicate project progress, issues, and solutions to management and to the project team.

In terms of project-related responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the following project streams:

o Cost and Cashflow Control

o Schedule Control

o Procurement

o Finance

o Headcount

o Communication



  • Facilitates trade-offs between different project streams having in mind ultimate project benefit; assesses and challenges single streams status-quo and proposed way-forward, identifying and help to implementing the best end-to-end solution
  • Maintains project risk register (including mitigation plan) and escalates major issues to Project Leader, outlining different options and propose recommendation
  • Supports Project Leader in the communication process to senior stakeholders and prepares/facilitates major meetings (reviews and follow-ups) & site visits
  • Focuses on customers' requirements enabling a high standard of effectiveness
  • Confronts and resolves conflicts effectively and coach's others in these areas
  • In consult with Project Leader (s)he allocates, distributes, and deploys resources in an effective manner based on requirements and workload priorities
  • Anticipates problems and potential risks while creating contingency plans
  • Transfers ideas and successes across boundaries
  • Participates and leads a team across functional areas and cultures, integrating JnJ resources with external/contracted ones
  • Identifies and resolves relationship issues and uses effective mediation and conflict management, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Lead/facilitate project management tasks, including:

o Review and follow-up of documentation of meetings and discussions

o Assignment and tracking of action items

o Get key actions prioritized by the rest of the team

o Anticipating and mitigating bottlenecks

o Ability to break roadblocks and catalyze decision making

o Lessons Learned sessions after major milestones have been achieved (i.e. Design, Construction.)



  • Oversees J&J Project team and contract engineers in the execution of the activities as described above
  • Develops solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Exercises independent judgment in improving methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on the assignment.


Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. degree in engineering, business, finance or relevant degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Advanced proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment.
  • Demonstrated success in working within the Asia Pacific region.
  • Technically savvy with the ability to understand and relate to complex technology-based issues.
  • Ability to translate business needs into engineering concepts.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong partnerships at all levels within the organization, including at the Sponsor level.
  • Capability to lead and motivate multicultural teams and manage remote stakeholders.
  • Natural leadership qualities and strong listening skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, especially in managing conflicts within local contexts while implementing global standards.
  • Understanding of complex technical and regulatory issues impacting products.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, with a focus on EHS design and construction safety.
  • Working knowledge of GMPs for Healthcare Supply Chains.
  • Experience with start-up processes, commissioning, and qualifications.
  • Familiarity with engineering design principles in regulated industries.
  • Experience in construction and procurement processes.
  • Experience with project controls processes.

Preferred:

  • Proven track record in leading capital project portfolios valued between $400 million and $500 million
  • Process-oriented, process knowledgeable
