The New Products and Business Development (NPBD) team is responsible for supporting the future growth of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (JJIM). We advance our promising pipeline by providing U.S. commercialization strategy and execution, associated with new product launches, business development and alliance management across the JJIM portfolio.

The Director, Launch Strategy and Execution will be responsible for driving complex and high-profile product launches through robust strategic input and project management for U.S. Integrated Strategy and Launch Readiness Teams. This position will report to a Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) Senior Director, on the NPBD team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Ensure connectivity, standardization, and best practices within JJIM therapeutic area launch strategies and pull through from strategy to execution.
  • Serve as strategic launch advisors to Integrated Strategy Teams (ISTs) and Launch Readiness Teams (LRTs).
  • Drive launch planning and ensures project plans are current and relevant; identifies gaps, risks, and potential impact to timelines.
  • Regularly review status reports and tracks activities with Launch Readiness Team Leaders.
  • Own governance (Launch Challenge Sessions and Launch Readiness Reviews) for Launch Readiness Teams leveraging the Launch Excellence guidance document, tools and resources.
  • Advise launch readiness team members on Launch Excellence Framework resources and providing feedback to the Launch Excellence (LEX) Team.
  • Create and maintain all relevant project documentation, such as project plans, presentations, dashboards, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Monitoring performance and driving continuous process improvement.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and active participation by team members.
  • Ensure that common Launch Excellence activities are standardized leveraging best practices across therapeutic areas.
  • Institutionalize Launch Learnings: Harness and incorporate internal and external launch learnings for a continuous feedback loop.
  • Identify best practices and analogs for a knowledge management repository.
  • Identify any knowledge gaps in launches and close them for the organization.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. A post-graduate degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Commercial or R&D Pharmaceutical field.
  • Detailed knowledge of the drug development and launch process is required.
  • Launch experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the following Therapeutic Areas preferred: Oncology Hematology, Oncology Solid Tumor, Immunology, Neuroscience
  • Detailed knowledge of project planning, tracking, resource management, project planning, scheduling tools, and cross-project analytics (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Planisware, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and business intelligence tools preferred.
  • A Professional Project Management (e.g., PMP), Change Management (e.g., ProSci), or Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt) certification is preferred.
  • Must have strong decision-making skills and the ability to understand how and when to make informed choices, when to escalate issues, and understand how analyzed risks may affect the decision-making process.
  • Must be a self-starter, taking timely independent action in response to priorities in flux.
  • Must be comfortable and capable with conveying any message, quickly and easily, utilizing clear, positive, and persuasive communication (verbal and non-verbal). Written communications must be targeted to the audience, have logical flow, and utilize appropriate grammar and syntax.
  • Strong presentation generation skills (e.g., PowerPoint, Prezi, Sway, etc.) as well as effortless delivery of presentations to various stakeholders, including senior leaders is required.
  • Strength and track record in building coalitions and aligning strategies among diverse organizations is required.
  • The ability to manage multiple large-scale initiatives simultaneously, triaging key priorities appropriately is required.
  • The ability to influence and impact others cross-functionally through strong leadership, collaboration, constructive challenge, and stakeholder change management techniques is required.
  • Up to 10% travel to support project teams at multiple sites/locations is required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position in all other U.S. locations is $157,000 to $271,400.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
