Reporting to the Senior Director, MedTech Supply Chain, Innovation and Quality Communications, this critical role will lead internal and external communication strategy and execution for the Office of the MedTech Chief Scientific Officer and will extend the Company's breakthrough innovation narrative.

The Director, MedTech Innovation Communications is responsible for developing and executing breakthrough thought leadership and communication strategies that celebrate and amplify J&J MedTech's robust innovation vision, strategy, and pipeline.

The role is also responsible for driving execution of priority communication initiatives, which primarily includes positioning J&J MedTech scientific thought leadership at high-visibility external platforms. In addition, the leader will work in close partnership J&J Enterprise colleagues to ensure planning and execution of major communication moments, including external medical meetings, investor meetings, internal town halls, and other employee forums. leading organizational and internal communications for scientific and regulatory affairs.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Drive external and internal execution of signature Innovation campaigns and initiatives to enhance and amplify the MedTech Innovation narrative.
  • Develop and manage an executive thought leadership program for the Chief Scientific Officer and a bench of approved scientific spokespeople.
  • Lead organizational and internal communications for the MedTech Chief Scientific Office, including content development for Town Halls, innovation forums and other key internal meetings, working in close partnership with internal and external partners.
  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams, including scientists, data analysts, and clinical researchers, to distill complex scientific concepts into engaging and accessible content.
  • Work closely with business unit R&D, medical and clinical communications to elevate and highlight key innovation milestones and stories across J&J MedTech.
  • Partner with Regulatory Affairs and compliance teams to ensure that all communications adhere to industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to amplify the reach of our scientific communications.
  • Partner with Investor Relations, Business Development and Employee Engagement teams to strategically communicate our innovation strategy and pipeline to priority audiences.
  • Lead reporting of MedTech innovation highlights in J&J quarterly earnings, including MedTech digitally-enabled product, AI-driven and data science efforts.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications through digital analytics, surveys, and other key performance indicator.
  • Demonstrate integration of knowledge from internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; broad understanding of the business and industry priorities to drive business and reputation outcome.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required with preference for study in the areas of Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism or closely related field

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing communications in a company, NGO, Government agency, public relations agency or similar is required

• Strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to interact with senior leaders is required.

• Demonstrated ability to build deep, authentic, successful relationships with top executives and scientists and strong influence with senior internal and external stakeholders is required

• Exceptional attention to detail with superior writing and presentation development skills

• Ability to drive workforce engagement strategies to inspire and increase productivity is required

• Ability to manage networks in a matrixed environment is required

• Proven track record of successful, independent public relations/communications, corporate communication, science communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements is required

• Strong business acumen, confident yet agile personality, the ability to move fast and the ability to provide strong counsel in real time is required

• Deep understanding of media and business analytics, traditional media, digital and social platforms and strong experience with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media is required

• Experience in managing budgets and resource allocation across large critical projects is required

Preferred:

• Current or past experience with direct people management skills is preferred.

• Current or past work experience in organizational communications with responsibility for internal and external initiatives is preferred

• Proven experience in healthcare communications is preferred

• Global mindset and successful track record of working in a global function, with direct experience of leading on international projects, issues, and teams, and of competent internal and external stakeholder interactions on an international basis is preferred

Other:

  • Up to 10% travel

Salary:

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,000 to $251,850.

Bonus:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
