In this role, you will set the overall direction for medical excellence in oncology, ensuring that our strategies and initiatives reflect the latest industry best practices and are effectively employed across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cutting-edge digital solutions that advance our medical affairs goals, foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and drive a culture of continuous innovation and excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Apply your comprehensive knowledge of oncology and proficiency in artificial intelligence to provide guidance and advisory support to the team.
- Set the strategic direction for medical excellence in oncology, making critical decisions that impact the global medical affairs function.
- Lead the integration of digital innovation, including AI and social media, to enhance scientific communication, evidence generation, and data dissemination.
- Align global medical excellence goals with broader organizational objectives, driving joint outcomes across medical affairs.
- Stay informed of industry trends and external environment changes, incorporating insights to inform functional decisions and best practices.
- Oversee the development and execution of consistent methodologies for strategic and tactical planning within medical affairs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on medical affairs processes, ensuring consistent application of best practices.
- Manage key vendors and partners involved in medical excellence initiatives, ensuring alignment with therapeutic area (TA) goals.
- Liaise with cross-functional stakeholders and medical affairs leadership to ensure alignment and awareness of medical excellence activities.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous development within the medical excellence function.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a relevant masters or doctorate level advanced scientific/medical degree (e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD), with experience in oncology required.
- Knowledge of Oncology Therapeutic Area products, both J&J and competitors, is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry within medical affairs strategy.
- At least 5 years of experience at the Director level in medical affairs strategy, with a focus on medical excellence and operations.
- Proven ability to lead teams and influence organizational decisions at a senior level.
- Experience collaborating with medical affairs vendors and managing medical excellence initiatives.
- Strong background in brand strategy, launch planning, competitive strategy, and early asset development.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
- Successful track record in leading cross-functional matrix teams and driving operational excellence.
- Proficiency in pharma code and guidelines governing medical affairs activities.
This role offers the opportunity to lead in a rapidly evolving field, leveraging digital innovation to drive global medical excellence and improve oncology outcomes.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000. to $271,400.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
