Enabling an insights-based commercial ecosystem is a critical growth accelerator for J&J MedTech. The Director, Commercial Innovation & Data Science is responsible for guiding a team to co-shape and stand-up key ecosystem elements that will fuel a data and insight-driven approach, while improving commercial effectiveness and productivity. This also includes shaping strategy and driving successful implementation of omnichannel & eCommerce capabilities. Elements include: omnichannel transformation, ecommerce, data enablement, data science models, tools/capabilities to drive more data-based next best actions across the organization; as well as driving pull-through of a customer-centric, insights-based approach (e.g. Integrated Customer Experience Planning).

The position will reside within the Digital & Commercial Innovation team and serve as a key partner & SME across functions, including: Marketing, Finance, Field Sales and Key Account Management teams. The role will also be responsible for shaping the development & delivering the ecosystem, with an end-to-end commercial lens, speed to impact and seamless user experience, in close partnership with Commercial Excellence team members (Directors of Strategic Business Insights, Customer Insights) & other partners (Customer Solutions "the Center," IT, etc.) to ensure coordination of efforts and continuity across data sources, deliverables and tools/capabilities for JJMT Surgery. The Director will help define data strategy (including new data sets needed) and drive execution with the "Center" to support JJMT Surgery business needs as part of the JJMT Commercial Master Data Management efforts. Additionally, the Director will guide the product roadmap of commercial capabilities - from product vision, roadmap and goals in alignment with stakeholder partners and leaders. They will guide their teams to collaborate closely with Platform & Business Unit leaders, cross-functional partners, including JJT and business stakeholders, to define business requirements, co-shape solution(s), data & user testing, ensure product delivery and successful user acceptance and adoption.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with partners to shape & launch ecosystem, including:
    • Critical ecosystem elements, roadmap and prioritized value delivery aligned with business objectives, and seamless user experience.
    • Guide advanced data science models as part of ecosystem intelligence - e.g. predictive models and next best actions.
    • Guide the product backlog with ongoing partnership with stakeholders & cross-functional teams to deliver maximum value to customers with speed to impact.
    • Flawless execution of all capability launches
  • Guide development and implementation of data operations strategies, policies, and procedures to drive data integrity, while ensuring efficient and effective data management for JJMT Surgery.
  • Guide & champion development and pull-through of Omnichannel, eCommerce capability strategy & implementation across the organization, including:
    • Operationalize usage of segmentation and multi-touch attribution
    • Continued capability build, with additional data sources & added intelligence to next best actions.
    • Integrated Customer Experience Planning: Ongoing operationalization, integration into our ways of working to drive impact for the Customer and commercial effectiveness.
    • eCommerce: Improved user experience on J&J Customer Connect.
  • Support scaled capability development (Targeting Engine & others) as part the ecosystem. Partnership across teams to shape & launch.
  • Guide development and execution of data strategy for US JJMT Surgery commercial teams, in partnership with "the Center".
  • Maintain a team of engaged and high performing people including being responsible for the recruitment, development, coaching and overall performance and development team members, and others.
  • Guide the "intake" process of Omnichannel, Data, Scaled Tool/Capability, Data Science requests.
  • Manage, prioritize, and execute strategic and tactical efforts, ensuring alignment with business growth priorities and speed to impact.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Required Minimum Education:

  • BS/BA in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics, or related field is required.

Required Years of Related Experience:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in marketing or commercial experience, strategic insights, finance, or a related field is required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong experience with enabling business models (with KPIs) and business insight/action through data, technology are required - e.g. help shape ecosystem development based on business requirements, bring to action with data, technology groups, enabling KPI measurement
  • Commercial acumen: Strong understanding of business strategy, operations, market dynamics & strategies to drive financial goals - including commercial experience/models & enabling customer-centric, omnichannel capabilities & go-to-market approaches.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to develop and deliver an end-to-end strategy & capability roadmap to enable & operationalize a data-based commercial ecosystem.
  • Business intelligence: Familiarity with BI tools and platforms to analyze and visualize data, track performance metrics, and present insights effectively.
  • Data governance and compliance: Knowledge of data governance frameworks, regulations, and best practices to ensure data privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Strong experience with MS Office suite and knowledge of technology (i.e. Customer profile, automation software - e.g. Customer Data Platform, Customer Engagement/Marketing automation capabilities, CRM) is required
  • Familiarity with project management, product roadmap, and design tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Figma, Sketch) is required.
  • Experience managing projects is required
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, in particular, "across the matrix." Ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to simplify and prioritize initiatives for business critical & speed to impact

  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or MS or other advanced degree is preferred, including healthcare
  • Deep experience with integrated customer experience / marketing strategy development, execution and organizational pull-through
  • Experience with driving digital organizational transformation and change management - including upskilling, organizational culture (data & digital literacy, data-based decision making)
  • Knowledge of HCP marketing; experience with digital product development, data modeling
  • Experience with Data management and Database structures (i.e. Oracle, SQLSERVER, etc.) and Interface technologies (i.e. Informatica, WebMethods, etc.)
  • Experience partnering with Marketing, Field Sales and Information Management/Information Technology organizations
  • Experience in the medical device, hospital specialty, or healthcare field
  • High Technical Skills that include Tableau, MS Office, Qlik, SAS, PowerBI and other data tool sets is desirable

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,000 to $251,850. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
