The Clinical Research Scientist works in the US Medical Affairs Solid Tumor group and will actively participate and may lead aspects of the development, oversight, and execution of Phase I-IV clinical research trials. This individual will work closely with the Therapeutic Area Head (TAH), Medical Directors, other individuals within Medical Affairs, and other functional areas within J&J, as necessary to facilitate research for all Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine oncology products. The position reports to the Head, Lung Therapeutic Area in US Medical Affairs Solid Tumor. Key responsibilities will include serving as the Study Responsible Scientist (SRS) for Medical Affairs led interventional clinical trials, providing oversight of investigator initiated and collaborative studies, and will support the Study Responsible Physician (SRP) in medical, safety and scientific study oversight activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as the key point person for the status of clinical study activities
- Review and assessment of new clinical study proposals
- Lead company sponsored study development from protocol development and study related materials, feasibility, site selection and investigator meetings through study close-out, clinical study report and publication, working with the Medical Affairs Delivery Unit and Global Clinical Operations and other relevant functional areas (e.g., statistics, clinical pharmacology, etc.)
- Monitor, review and analyze clinical trial data
- Assist with investigation and acquisition of additional necessary data for safety reporting
- Develop abstracts and scholarly publications for company sponsored studies
- Establish relationships and communicate with external investigators, steering committee members, and thought leaders
- Support the development and execution of advisory boards
- Collaborate with the TAH, Medical Directors, Real World Evidence (RWE) Team, Medical Communications Scientific Exchange, and other stakeholders on the overall strategic direction and execution of projects
- Participate in review of promotional materials
- Lead trainings for internal and external stakeholders
- Support other initiatives and projects within the TA as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Advanced degree required; PharmD, PhD, MD/DO preferred
- A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in clinical research and development, or related experience within the industry (pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, etc.) is required
- Experience in oncology therapeutic area is required. Experience in lung cancer preferred
- Significant experience with clinical trials including development of protocols, case report forms, informed consent, study initiation, protocol training, and clinical data monitoring required
- Excellent written communication, oral communication, and presentation skills are required
- Advanced proficiency in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
- The individual must have demonstrated ability to work and lead in a cross-functional team environment and be flexible and adaptable
- Ability to travel up to 25% required.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000 to $271,400.
