Job Description:

In this role, you will work with colleagues in the JNJ Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science & Digital Health organization and partner with key businesses across JNJ Innovative Medicine (formerly Janssen) to apply advanced data science and analytics to answer key research questions. As an intern, you will get the opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of artificial intelligence and drug discovery. You will be a member of a dynamic team comprising data scientists and subject matter experts to create and iterate on data science solutions. Projects include, but are not limited to, developing, and applying predictive and generative artificial intelligence methods for molecular property prediction and generation with the ultimate goal of drug discovery. Interns could be located out of our US locations in San Diego, San Francisco, Titusville, Raritan, Spring House, Boston as well as remote, However, if they are located in Spring House will work on-site

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics data to identify tumor-specific cellular heterogeneity and immune interactions in oncology research.
  • Develop and implement computational pipelines for preprocessing, integrating, and visualizing single-cell and multi-omics datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including oncologists and bioinformaticians, to translate computational insights into actionable biological hypotheses.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Biostatistics, Data Science, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of data mining and single-cell data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and visualization.
  • Familiarity with predictive modeling, machine learning, and large-scale biological datasets.
  • Strong technical communication and presentation skills.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Computational biology with a focus on single-cell analysis, spatial transcriptomics, or large-scale multi-omics data integration.
  • Genomics and transcriptomics, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, or proteomics analysis.
  • Development of machine learning models for biomedical applications.
  • Experience with cloud computing or high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
