Position Components
J&J Innovation Medicine is recruiting for summer interns, R&D Data Science & Digital Health, Neuroscience, Discovery & Molecular ("DM"). In this role, you will partner with key businesses across J&J Innovation Medicine to apply advanced data science and analytics to answer key research questions. As an intern, you will get the opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare. You will be a member of a dynamic team comprising data scientists and subject matter experts to create and iterate on data science solutions. You will be exposed to projects on the development of Advanced Analytics as machine learning and deep learning models in healthcare based on next-generation sequencing-derived and 'omics data that will provide key insights on our pipeline assets. The primary location for this position is flexible - either; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; New York City, NY; San Diego, CA; South San Francisco, CA; or remote with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Currently pursuing bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative or life sciences field (e.g., cellular biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or similar)
- Experience with one or more of the following: proteomics, RNA sequencing / transcriptomics, epigenetics/genetics.
- Experience with one of the following: machine learning, deep learning, causal inference methods, statistical modeling, multivariate regression and classification
- Hands-on technical data analysis and machine learning modeling experience
- Proficiency in the following programming languages: Python, R, or SQL.
- • Strong technical communication and presentation skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following -
- Experience in advanced 'omics methodologies, including long-read sequencing (PacBio, Oxford Nanopore) from bulk and/or single cell libraries, spatial transcriptomics (NGS-based, In Situ Sequencing, In Situ Hybridization), single cell/nuclei sequencing (multiomics, ATAC, RNA), integrating multiple 'omics modalities (bulk RNA + bulk proteomics), higher-order chromatin structure, or similar
- Experience creating reproducible bioinformatic pipelines and workflows including Nextflow, Snakemake, Airflow, or similar
- Experience with brain diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or similar
- Experience delivering on Data Science projects using simulation or predictive technologies, forecasting, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, or machine learning
- Familiarity with and exposure to drug discovery and clinical development processes with one or more of the following therapeutic areas: oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, neuroscience, pulmonary hypertension, or infectious disease
