Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a division of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting an Intern, Data Science, in Janssen R&D Data Sciences. The R&D Data Science team within Janssen is driven to meaningfully change the trajectory of disease with transformational medicines to advance the care of patients in the communities we serve. The team utilizes a diverse set of data and tools, along with platform solutions to answer impactful analytical questions and inform key projects from discovery all the way through late development. This role is virtual and sits within the Data Platform Strategy team which provides domain-rich data expertise on-demand across multiple disease areas.

Position Components
In this role, you will
- Use hands-on exploration to gain exposure to and familiarity with Digital Health data from sensors, wearables, and applications
- Build data engineering pipelines to transform and enrich assets for clinical trials and machine learning algorithm development
- Build backend cloud engineering infrastructure that serves to enable scalable data engineering and machine learning use cases
- Stay informed on cutting edge applications and use cases of data and tools, and platform solutions supporting the data science field and present back to the team through trainings and presentations
- Develop code-based automated data pipelines able to process millions of data points.
Qualifications
Required:
- Be currently pursuing a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, engineering, or related degrees.
- Possess a strong understanding of Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, Digital Health or related field as demonstrated by current or prior coursework.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills (technical and/or business).
- Possess familiarity with exploring and conducting analyses on large datasets.
- Strong interest in the exploration of innovative research using Digital Health, Real World Data, and gaining data domain knowledge.
Preferred:
- Coursework or background in computer science, information systems, biomedical engineering, and other life sciences
- Have prior experience thru other internships/jobs with hands-on data engineering and data science
- Prior independent or classroom research experience on a data-focused project
- Experience with relevant disease biology in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, or infectious disease
