Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C. is recruiting for a Logistics Strategy Co-Op, within the Clinical Supply Chain (CSC) located in Malvern, PA. We, the CSC, hold the global responsibility of all clinical supplies (API, Drug Product, Packaged and Labeled Clinical Supplies) of R&D portfolio. Our activities include all in-house and outsourced manufacturing of clinical supplies, demand forecasting, supply planning, and global distribution of supplies. Through a global network and organization (US, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Netherlands, China), we manufacture and scale-up Small Molecules and Bio Therapeutics products in development and low volume commercial supply and secure the supply to more than 60,000 patients in more than 330 clinical trials every year.

As the Logistics Strategy Co-Op, you are responsible for supporting the worldwide distribution activities of clinical supplies within J&J Pharma R&D (large and small molecules; for all phases of clinical trials) as part of the CSC organization. You will support other CSC Logistics Teams as well as internal/external distribution partners on depot network strategy & set-up, shipper solutions, transit temperature monitoring devices, US import/export compliance, shipment execution, distribution vendor related issues, and following up on vendor quality commitments.
To be successful, you will develop close working relationships with other Logistics team members (Logistics Integration, Temperature Coordination, API, Drug Product, and Pack & Label Coordination and Warehousing), the broader Clinical Supply Chain organization (i.e. Clinical Supply Integrator, Trial & Supply Management, Manufacturing groups), and cross-functional business partners (i.e. Quality, Deliver, Procurement, Vendors) in order to drive achievement of organizational objectives and metrics.
Responsibilities
- Support the Clinical Supply Chain Logistics team, responsible for the distribution of clinical trial supplies to investigator sites.
- Support vendor management, data analytics/reporting, process improvements, and new supplier onboarding
- May also support IT initiatives and various strategic roadmap efforts.
- Support analysis of providers and vendors for capabilities and solutions in collaboration with business partners (e.g., Procurement, QA) and identify new solutions and services to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective distribution providers are available to support the needs for the fast-growing reach of clinical trial operations
- Utilize team resources to continuously analyze and recommend the optimal materials for cold-chain and other critical-condition shipping materials. Provide oversight on the global inventory management of these supplies.
- Monitor the performance of logistics and distribution providers and ensure continuous improvement by the providers. Compile data and analyze trending through the utilization of KPIs and quality metrics.
- Find opportunities to improve the overall services and performance of current and future vendors by establishing regular communications across relevant levels of the respective vendor organization, developing effective metrics, and ongoing integration of the role of the distribution partner within CSC
- Identify and implement logistics process improvements or other logistics-related projects within CSC and with vendors
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years in a University/Bachelor's degree program is required
- Pharmaceutical distribution, transportation, and/or logistics experience is required
- Effective leadership, communication (written & verbal), and strong collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate internally and externally to develop partnerships with key business partners and service providers to identify and deliver logistics and distribution solutions required.
- Ability to work in a global and high-pressure environment, both independently and collaboratively
- Solutions and results-oriented
- Operational and data analysis skills
- Budget and/or project management experience is preferred
- Demonstrated Integrity and Credo-based actions
- English is required. Additional languages including Dutch is an advantage
- Requires MS Office proficiency, specifically advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skill
- Business applications experience, such as SharePoint, SAP Ariba, Quality Event Management System (i.e. TrackWise), and/or Interactive Response Technology (i.e. IVRS) platforms is helpful.
