We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Co-op to join our API team focused on process development and process innovation of an autologous cell therapy. In this role, the successful candidate will develop a small-scale process to facilitate the manufacturing of a key CAR-T cell therapy asset at J&J and will be involved in process design and parameter optimization studies resulting in the development of new production processes. The successful candidate will work as part of a cross-functional teams supporting pre-clinical and clinical programs, focused on autologous processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge process development aimed at advancing treatments for hematological malignancies.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting the execution of experiments related to CAR-T process development.
- Support process improvement initiatives and assist with technology integration to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Identifying and presenting relevant literature to the project team.
- Collecting, recording, interpreting, and presenting experimental data appropriately.
- Coordinating testing schedules, presenting results, and authoring reports.
- Communicating progress to supervisors.
At the culmination of the internship, the intern will have gained:
- Exposure to the pharmaceutical industry.
- General knowledge of the late-stage process development lifecycle & activities.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams on projects that align with clinical programs and commercial manufacturing goals.
Qualifications
- Graduate Students: A PhD or Masters student enrolled in an Immunology, Chemical, Biological, Biomolecular Engineering program, or another related science field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of cell therapy or biomanufacturing principles.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience with standard laboratory techniques is preferred.
- PC-based skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are preferred.
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
