RNA Therapeutics and Delivery is an organization within Therapeutics Discovery, committed to the delivery of high-quality drug candidates in the novel synthetic modalities space working closely with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines Therapeutic Areas (TA) discovery teams. Our mission requires critical thinking, a portfolio approach and deep scientific expertise in several fields including oligonucleotide chemistry, bioconjugation chemistry, nanotechnology, cellular and molecular pharmacology and screening technologies coupled with an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners. This role offers growth opportunity within a dynamic and science driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the synthesis of oligonucleotides and bioconjugates for delivery.
- In collaboration with the team, support oligonucleotide innovation, optimization and process development efforts.
- Support the optimization of chemistry processes for solid phase synthesis, purification, analysis of oligonucleotides and bioconjugates under limited supervision.
- Evaluate experiment data and communicate scientific findings as verbal presentations and written reports.
Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. or MS. in organic/medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, or related field with 1 - 3 years of industry or academic experience in oligonucleotide drug discovery
- Experience in phosphoramidite synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization
- Exposure to the oligonucleotide drug discovery process
- Critical thinking and scientific skills and a consistent record to interpret and clearly communicate data
- Strong standout colleague with the ability to work optimally in a dynamic matrix team environment with diverse views
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with an emphasis on nucleic acid chemistry
- Proven record of accomplishments in oligonucleotide research in the form of patents, publications and/or presentations at major national meetings
- Knowledge and experience with delivery of oligonucleotides using bioconjugation strategies
- Solid understanding of RNA biology and oligonucleotide screening technologies to facilitate effective teamwork
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $74,000- $119,600 USD. The base salary range listed is based on a US pay scale and may be adjusted based on the successful candidate's geographic location
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
