Johnson Controls’ Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion and Guardian.
The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 950 employees. The Wichita manufacturing facility is the largest non-aircraft manufacturing plant in Wichita.
How you will do it
Directs activities of manufacturing engineers in developing new technologies and equipment that keep Johnson Controls on the forefront of manufacturing excellence.
Directs activities of manufacturing engineers in developing labor standards, work instructions, operational method sheets, SAP documentation and product costing
Manages and implements an annual site capital budget
Key member of new product introductions and product design changes, and how those changes affect the manufacturing process.
Prepares plant capacity and capital equipment planning, including future site layout requirements
Directs strategic plan initiatives involving production, materials, quality, and design engineering personnel.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws to include but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and developing employees.
What we look for
University degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of ten years manufacturing and production operations and/or manufacturing engineering experience including successful supervisory experience.
Experienced leader of teams with demonstrated success fostering career growth and development for direct reports
Must have advanced knowledge and experience with Lean layouts and related flow strategy, cell automation and integration (especially robotics and conveyance)
Strong technical skills in maintenance, tooling, facilities management, Six Sigma, and Lean principles.
Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software.
Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities.
Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
Ability to manage large, complex projects and provide effective leadership
