Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Continuously works to improve core competency, develops SMT solution proposals, and provides test crisis support. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results. Develops and implements production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most efficient manner for new and existing SMT production processes. Monitors the SMT process; troubleshooting problem processes and assisting in resolving quality issues. Provides technical expertise on various projects/production jobs and processes as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strives to achieve excellence in all endeavors.
  • Implement the startup of new/existing projects/production jobs, optimizing cost, efficiency and quality.
  • Provides training to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and Manufacturing Engineering Assistants in subjects such as equipment maintenance and repair; machine programming and optimization; and part-data (PD) file creation.
  • Interfaces with Line Supervisors, Machine Support Manager, and Manufacturing Engineers to determine corrective actions needed to optimize machine efficiency and effectiveness (yields). Creates, documents and implements procedures that ensure continued operational excellence throughout the plant(s).
  • As required, provides expertise and direction to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and Machine Support Technicians on machine adjustments, repairs or other demand-maintenance activities.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineers in determining optimum process performance by assisting with I.R. reflow profiles, wave solder profiles, screen printing of solder paste, designing and manufacturing of necessary tooling, and suggestions for design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Establish and ensure process control and maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Monitor the SMT assembly process running in production; troubleshoot problems associated with processes, and assist in resolving quality issues.
  • Establish processes for new product lines; document product development and changes; evaluate new product performance; and monitor new tool design.
  • Debug moderately complex problems within a portion of new systems, tooling and automation.
  • Implement experiments to enhance processes as well as improve yields and utilization through reduced cycle and efficient set-up.
  • Implement maintenance changes in process improvements; propose or specify repair alteration of automation while ensuring adequate documentation is maintained.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, supporting all company safety programs and initiatives.
  • May provide direction to assembly and material handling employees as necessary.
  • Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Work Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Proficiency in personal computers and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of SMT technology/assembly processes and quality control methods is a plus.
  • Experience with process optimization and troubleshooting.
