Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead/Senior Power Electronics Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of advanced power electronics systems, including AC/DC, DC/AC, and DC/DC converters, motor drives, and grid-connected inverters. This role encompasses circuit and schematic design, component selection, guiding PCB layout, and system validation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and implementation of power electronics architectures while ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, system architects, and project managers to align designs with product specifications and project timelines.
  • Design and validate power conversion systems, including schematic design, component selection, and providing guidance for PCB layout.
  • Test, debug, and validate hardware designs, ensuring adherence to performance and reliability standards.
  • Develop and execute test plans and specifications for new designs and prototypes.
  • Monitor and improve the quality of product delivery, schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Stay updated with the latest power electronics technologies, materials, and industry trends to deliver innovative designs.
  • Provide technical input to identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Support manufacturing by designing and implementing test benches, resolving production issues, and collaborating with vendors.
  • Document designs, test results, and system updates to ensure clear communication and knowledge sharing within the team.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong background in power electronics design, including AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC conversion systems, motor drives and grid-connected inverters.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Cadence, Altium).
  • Experience with hardware debugging, testing, and validation, including the use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes and power analyzers.
  • Familiarity with power topologies (e.g., full-bridge, flyback, LLC resonant converters) and control algorithms for power systems.
  • Working knowledge of thermal management and EMI/EMC considerations in power electronics.

NON-TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions effectively.
  • Skilled in risk assessment and project milestone development for hardware systems.
  • A creative, self-motivated individual with a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in power electronics design, development, and validation.
  • Proven track record of successful technical leadership in the field of power electronics.
  • Experience in writing specifications, test plans, and design documentation.
