The Engineering Project Manager oversees the execution of multi-site projects that integrate electromechanical systems with software components, ensuring success from concept to production. With projects typically spanning six months to two years, the role involves guiding diverse global teams, from small groups to large cross-functional teams, across disciplines like Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering, as well as Product Validation, Supply Chain, NPI, Manufacturing Operations, and Quality.

As the primary liaison between customers and internal stakeholders, the Project Manager is responsible for coordinating budgets, schedules, and documentation to achieve project milestones. Through meticulous progress tracking and communication, they ensure outcomes align with customer expectations and organizational objectives while managing timelines and resources effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Execution
- Exhibit a high level of proficiency in program and project management by providing effective team leadership and ensuring seamless customer engagement.
- Lead and motivate multi-functional teams, fostering collaboration and strong relationships to achieve defined program or project objectives.
- Apply extensive knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Create and manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring precise tracking of progress and costs through Earned Value (EV) Analysis.
- Leverage experience with stage-gate product development processes to ensure structured and efficient project execution.
- Organize and host meetings, leading discussions on complex project status updates with minimal supervision.
Technological and Business Requirements
- Ensure all of the project's technological requirements and objectives are correctly gathered, understood, and properly translated for execution.
- Develop complex Statements of Work (SOW) and business proposals.
- Assist with business and/or contract negotiations to support project goals and deliverables.
- Proficiently use advanced project management and requirements management tools to enhance project oversight and outcomes.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrate a willingness to travel as required to support project needs.
Risk, Scope, and Quality Management
- Identify, assess, and monitor project risks and opportunities, implementing proactive mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Manage project scope effectively, integrating approved changes in alignment with the product development process, including the preparation and approval of Contract Change Orders (CCOs).
- Oversee and coordinate with external vendors and suppliers providing design and development support, ensuring alignment with the Supply Chain (SC) team.
- Conduct formal internal reviews independently to ensure that project deliverables meet customer requirements and quality standards.
- Interface and interact with Factory/Operations/NPI teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Stakeholder and Customer Engagement
- Communicate technical project details clearly and effectively to customers, incorporating input from Technical Leads as required.
- Maintain transparent and regular communication of technical aspects and project progress to internal stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, displaying confidence, clarity, discipline, and strong communication skills throughout interactions.
- Facilitate efficient communication among all project participants, adeptly managing complex stakeholder needs, and escalating critical issues to higher management when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
Experience
- 5-10 years of project management experience in electromechanical systems, from concept to launch.
- Technical background and experience with demonstrated ability to recognize, assess, and communicate cross-functional issues and risks.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary and multi-site global projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing design projects as part of a contract design and engineering organization is desired.
Certifications
- PMP Certification (preferred).
Skills
- Proficiency in Earned Value Management and project management tools.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage scope changes and associated impacts.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.

- Supervisory Role: Not responsible for direct employee management.
